Corsairfoxfouruncle
Hello all... Im posting my recent build of Dragons 1/72 He.219-A0. I built this down in the “Specialists” group build. Im hoping you like it. You will note it needs a tail prop to stand up properly. I found out too late that no matter how much weight. I just couldn't get it to stand on all three feet. A link to the WIP If any are curious. Questions, comments, jokes, our good stories ? Dennis
Gary Brantley
That's a great looking bird! I think you've done a spectacular job on the paintwork. I have the Tamiya kit of the same aircraft in 1/48 I believe and hope it would look that good. Well done Corsair!
Stew Dapple
Nice job Dennis, it's difficult enough to get the mottles small enough, but you have and you've managed to space them consistently as well - good work, she's a beauty mate Cheers, Stew
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Thanks very much Gary & Stew .. Im really happy the way the paint turned out on this. Dennis

Roger Newsome
Very nice Dennis. One of these days I'll build an aircraft with mottling. The few practices I've done on scrap plastic haven't turned out too well so I appreciate just how much work has gone into your He.219. Roger.
Sky Keg
By no means an easy Kit Dennis. You conquered it very nicely!!!!! 👍
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Thank you @Roger Newsome for the kind words. Ive been practicing for a long time. Every time i have extra paint in my A/B, I grab a test mule or paper. Then i practice my mottling and fine squiggles, for german camouflage. Im getting better but not perfect. If i had a smaller needle/nozzle combo on my brush i could get better. I think mines a .4 or .5 head. Dennis

IanC
Lovely model. You cracked the camo! I find the best way to do a fine mottle is by using extra thinned paint, lowering the pressure as much as I can get away with and then holding the airbrush as close as possible to the surface. The Luftwaffe could have saved us a lot of bother though if they'd just gone with an overall grey... 1
Gorby
Excellent job Dennis! I've done the Tamiya one and I didn't do the mottling half as well as this. Lovely job.

True but then they’d be boring like everyone else.

Ham Hands
Well done! I second the extra thinned paint with low pressure idea. 👍👍
viperchief
Love your Owl! I read your build thread and was really impressed with your tenacity! I just bought the Platz boxing (comes with a "pound" of lead weights) while on vacation in Japan. Looks like a fun build!

As for the tenacity thing, well theres two things that describe me quite well. Ive been told i could teach a mule how to be stubborn. I used to be a bouncer and was nicknamed the “Pit bull”. Once i grabbed someone in a fight they could never break free. I look forward to seeing your Uhu someday. Dennis
