Spot of the Day Part 3

Recommended Posts

Talking of birthday presents, this was mine for my b-day on Saturday.

Borrowed, not bought, sadly; I did about 300 miles from Friday morning to Monday afternoon; I know a Porsche Boxster isn't that special compared to most "spots" on here but it's a very impressive car.

Chelmsford today. Coming out of a side road as we were driving past, so can't give detail, but a Triumph 2000 or 2.5, nicely finished in a bright blue. I'm going to keep my eye open, might see it again.

Had a ride to Filey today . Obviously being nice weather their were a good number of classics out and about ...

 A beige Allegro

A brown Mini Clubman 1275 GT

Escort mk2 1600 Sport

Aerial Atom

Original Fiat Panda 4x4

Golf mk2 GTi 16v .

After weeks of staying in it was good to get out , people mostly obeying the rules .

a J-reg Astra GTE.

I had a G-reg GTE 16V. Got stolen twice!!

Worst buying decision I ever made!

Fast though - in a straight line!

Cheers,

Alan.

I can trump that - F reg one that got stolen three times! Weird thing was I got it back every time, the toerags never torched it!

Traded it in for a Belmont SRi which was never touched, guess they all turned their noses up at nicking an Astra with a boot! Strange thing was that whilst it wasn't as fast as the GTE it handled better and was more enjoyable to drive - guess it must have been better balanced....

First trip back to Liverpool in months and driving along The Strand at Pier Head I saw this Arriva bus in a retro Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive (MPTE) livery.

A much smarter livery than the insipid Blue/Cotswold Stone Arriva uses now. For those interested, the colour of the ‘Merseyside Transport‘ logo was different for each garage. Brown (I think) was the northern division. Blue was definitely Wirral.

1976 Maserati Khamsin in red went past me in Salisbury earlier. I think they were rare even when they were in production. Didn't have time to get a shot of it I'm sorry to say 🥴

Having seen your abnormal load spot , Richellis , here is one from the other week , leaving Goole docks bound for Ferrybridge .
Gary .

Blimey i bet that truck and trailer rig weighs more than its load! It looks like an Alvis Uni-Power?

I think they are a Trojan , Steve . The load was a turbine weighing over 400 tonnes . It’s uphill coming off the docks onto M62 and both trucks were  working hard and sounding well !

Saw a ‘Carlsson’ that, frankly, confused me. I’m assuming it was a coach build conversion job.

No pic, as I was driving.

Best described as the lovechild of a 6th Gen Honda Civic hatchback (front) and a generic estate (rear).

These were a while ago.
I was invited to the Lister factory to get details, pictures and plans of the cars for a scratch build project...
A great day. About 200 pics in all.

Chelmsford this morning. Gorgeous looking VW Kharman Ghia convertible. Coming out of a side road, so not much detail seen, but it was in a greyish blue colour, with alloy wheels. The street is a cul-de-sac near where I live, so might pop round sometime and see if it sits outside.

Some absolutely gorgeous alloy work on display there, the sort of place I'd love to have a nose around in. Thanks for showing those Roy.

Steve.
