More Spots of the Week from Wales, but I think I know where the 'forgotten' cars of the '90s have gone:

 

K-Reg Citroen BX Diesel

Two Peugeot 306's, three 205's and five Peugeot 106's

2 of the original version Nissan Almeras

G-reg VW Caddy

H-reg Toyota Carina plus J-reg Camry

Sierra XR4i

Two Mk1 and one Mk2 Escorts

Renault 4 camper conversion visiting from the Netherlands

Ferrari 512 Testarossa

A small convoy of VX220s

'57 Vauxhall Victor (unrusty, even around the exhaust pipe!)

 

Those are the ones I remember. I'm trying to forget the dark brown Reliant Kitten!

For the Aussies in the house... a yellow over black Holden Gemini, rear wheel drive model (TC, TD or TE, didn't get a good enough look to be sure). I can't remember the last time that I saw one of them on the street.

See one quite regularly - unfortunately it's sticking out from under a tarp in someone's front garden, and what I guess was the original pretty pink colour is now turning rusty red (where there aren't holes that is)......

All Victors were F something . FA was first ,FB of 1963 ish also 1st VX4/90 , FC ,FD FE ,. Think FE was last before Cavalier

P was Crestas, PA,PB etc. Not sure if Velox, Viscounts were included with that , think they were as the basic body shape. PE the last before the Carlton/Senator

C was vans CA etc. CF the last

H Vivas HA etc. HE the last before the Chevette ? Brains hurting !

The first Victor was just 'F', never 'FA', in line with the 'E' model Velox and Cresta

Chassis numbers started FE, in my case 238998.

I had an FC as well, and my father had an FE.

Crestas and Viscounts ended with the PC.

They made a 3300cc FD, the Ventora, and also an FE version.

Two very nice Morris 1000's today. One parked up on the outskirts of Rotherham. This one even had a sunshade over the windscreen, as seen in old Aussie films!

I've only seen them rarely over here, they were an accessory back then, but probably not a cheap one. Perhaps as much as a fiver? That was a weeks wages!

The other Moggy was about twenty minutes later. An old English white one with a split screen heading North up the A1.

Odd thing was, both cars had a luggage rack on the bootlid. I can't remember the last time I saw this on a Moggy, if ever?

In our village, there is a chap that owns a very nice 'D' reg E-type FHC and a mint Cresta, I think.

I don't think either comes out very often. Beautiful though.

True until the FB came out but by the time you got yours it was  .  A bit like the Comet only became Comet 1 once the Comet 2 was designed . Cortina wasn't a Mk1 until the Mk2   although you can argue the actual car called the Cortina 2 on the boot lid titles was built in the Mk1 shape knocking out the previous Mk1 facelift, integrated sidelights and indicator part of the front grill assembly and new interior round front vents different roof pressing thicker C pillar with external vent outlet grills. love confusion .

The 1957 Victor F (A) was same time as the 1957 Cresta P (A) and was it's stablemate. I just read through my Daily Mail and Express Motorshow reviews from 54 ish to 1964 The 57 Victor is just that and so is the 2nd Victor , FB isn't mentioned . It will be on workshop manuals I expect.

Got to be honest, when I said '57 Victor I just meant it was the first model - could have been a '58 for all I know (and my first thought on seeing it was that it was a Cresta until I saw a 'Victor; badge on the side). Don't think it was any later as it looked a lot like a scaled down '57 Bel Air and had the "bullet" style front bumper on it as well as fins and exhaust through the bumper at the back. Had a look on the dashcam to see if I could pull of a pic, but unfortunately I've done a reasonable bit of driving since and it's been overwritten :(

 

As for today's spot, I can offer nothing more exciting than a K-reg Volvo 440 - another one which would have been better left unseen...

^ Yep, a Victor 1 with the bullet bumpers. Quite a few revisions for the Victor 2 in 59, which had a cosmetic facelift in 61, but not called a Victor 3.

Detroit messed with the original design; the Victor 2 reverted to the original plans, and reduced some of the water traps. Shame they were a rot box. Very comfortable and a fantastic heater. They rolled like a boat at sea, and snapped rear springs regularly. Drum brakes and no servo, but they would stand it on end!

Today on the Nottingham ringroad. It was large, dark green, had three axles and a huge bonnet.

It looked like an ex Soviet radio/radar control vehicle due to the big box with windows on the back.

Looks like the invasion is a goer..... 🔫

Talking of which, does anyone have any idea what this is? Been parked up in a local field for a few years. Doubt it's Soviet as it's RHD, but looks ex military and with all those cooling louvres I'm guessing some kind of electronics bits used to be in the back. And doesn't have a British 'look' to me....

Looks like the thing decades before the  Ptarmigan battlefield communications truck . I was fitting SAS Ptarmigans out ,new builds in 1985 for 3 months . The Tparmigan's cabin was latched to the truck's flatbed .

 

These must be a lot bigger , look at the housing estate through the windows of the truck in the  top photo .

According to the DVLA , it's a 1967 FBW . Google suggests FBW are a Swiss manufacturer
