Spot of the Day Part 3

Recommended Posts

A week ago I saw for the very first time ever a Lambo Diablo in the wild, cruising down the Autobahn towards Düsseldorf. It looked like it would be taken out for a ride regularly and was not overly clean, good to see it that way. The back isn't as embarassing as on the models, but still - what did they think back then?! But impressing how low this beast REALLY is. I was sitting in the back of a Skoda octavia, and had the feeling the roof was about half the height of my head.

The good old Mini days...

Tools were always the most important luggage. In the beginning 80es of last century I travelled a lot with my Minis and always there was something to fix...if not on my one, somehow I always found someone who needed Support😁😄😃😂🤣

Just gone past the house, a gorgeous metallic grey E30 BMW318is - he must live very locally as I've seen it a few times now. It's got an M3 boot spoiler, and the first time I saw it I thought it was an M3! Still a beautiful car though!

Yesterday a tidy white Porsche 924  - another hateful car I once owned!!

I had one of those once except it wasn't an E30 it was a £30 one, honestly though for a 30 quid Beemer it lasted about a year but i'm still not convinced it was a good buy because the insurance cost me an arm and a leg.....

We had a 1969 Mercury Marauder X100 in at the garage for a stainless exhaust the other day . Yesterday afternoon in Nantwich I saw a really nice Jaguar E-Type V12 in the lovely medium blue (I think it was called Azure Blue) . Finally , this afternoon , also in Nantwich , I saw an 18-plate Morgan , which looked great in pale green with matching pale green wire wheels - so much more appropriate than  chrome .

Spotted today in Chippenham,

A mint Capri 2.8i. Glorious sound when it started up, and a series III Mini Cooper, also in good nick.

Cheers, Alan.

On a country road South of Grantham this afternoon, round the corner ahead came a model T Ford!

It was such an unexpected/fantastic sight that I actually laughed out loud! A great thing to see.

It would have been a bit spooky if there'd been a guy with a red flag walking in front of it....!!

Well I only caught a glimpse ot the driver but I swear he was wearing a driving coat, hat and goggles.

Last year on the way home from visiting daughter and family in Hampshire, on a murky wet morning we passed a pre war Bentley and the driver of that was wearring flying helmet, goggles, gauntlets, Irvine jacket - and a long white scarf !! I thought it was Mr. Toad at first!!

Full marks to him for using his pride and joy in all weathers though!

On the way to the hotel near Ljubljana Airport saw a Zastava in excellent condition. Cannot remember when I last saw one. Didn't see any Yugos though, but I doubt they lasted well anyway.

Cheers, Alan,

Great to see this has got back on the road, I remember being sent a story on it a couple of months back and though it might have been terminal:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-48116923

As for me, I'm going to have to defer to the collective wisdom of the site in identifying this. It's the second time I've seen it either at, or on the way to, Sainsbury's but I haven't managed to put my finger on what it is yet. Picture is a bit rubbish (unlike the car which looks immaculate), but other than that the best help I can give is that it's a J-reg (i.e. 1970-71):

I m in Braga , Portugal this weekend with the daughters dance school at a big dancing competition.  Anyway , me and my fellow dance dad's are loving spotting immaculate cars that have long since rusted away back home . I.e. mk3 Escorts , mk3 and 4 Fiestas , 2cv , Renault 4 etc.  But the most unexpected was a Lancia Integale owners club run . Must have been at least 20 , all immaculate.  I 'll put on pics when I'm back next week .

Gary .

Would make a nice kit, that. I'd want one.

Thanks, that's put me out of my wondering. I must admit I had no idea they did a single headlight version of this (which in my opinion is much better looking than the twin-lamp version I was thinking of). But I hadn't even considered it being a Bristol - was more thinking it was something Italian despite the lack of rust!
