Just finished this one, Italeri's 1/72 SR-71. Built OOB with PJ Production French High Altitude Flight Crew which are excellent, even used the kit decals for the most part worked well. The kit had raised panel lines which I have rescribed, a first for me but went quite well. As its built in flight it only has 38 parts, very low for such a large aircraft. Finished in Tamiya paints.

A very smart Habu Neil, is your next project the KC-135Q the it's just broken away from ?

This one is too big for my display case let alone the Kc135 (start thinking does anyone make a 1/44 SR71?)

I love this Neil and agree it just looks right in flight. Do you think italeri rescribed is the best option in 1/72? and how long is it,  if you don't mind me asking? As you can probably tell I'm tempted to give one of these a go!

Unfortunately I haven't seen the the alternatives but apart from the small issues with the undercarriage doors the Italeri kit is pretty good and the rescribing was fairly simple. I handed the model over to my modeling club last night so they take it to the Lancing model show today so I cant measure for you.

The SR-71A is 32.74 metres long and has a wingspan of 16.94 metres which convert to 45.4 cm and 23.5 cm in 1/72nd scale.
