Jo NZ
Forgive if I'm dreaming, but after all the hullabaloo about flying direct from Oz to London (a first!) a couple of years ago, I definitely remember flying Perth/London direct in 1985 on a 747SP (dash 200?) Only a 20 hour flight, but as the plane was only 2/3 full there was room to walk around, stretch out etc. Was it all a dream?
zebra
I have to have one of these! I'd started modifying a Welsh Models kit to the SOFIA aircraft but I'll wait for this. 1 hour ago, Jo NZ said: Forgive if I'm dreaming, but after all the hullabaloo about flying direct from Oz to London (a first!) a couple of years ago, I definitely remember flying Perth/London direct in 1985 on a 747SP (dash 200?) You could have flown Perth-London on an SP, Qantas had them although I don't know if they were used on that route. But it seems unlikely that it was non-stop - range of the SP (according to Wikipedia) was 6,650nm but great circle distance between London and Perth (according to this online map) is 7,829nm
