Hardtarget
Ok, lets get started on these as the sea fire builds are complete. Box Shots and sprues. RF-5 DSC_0056 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0061 by stuart wellard, on Flickr RF-4 DSC_0057 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0060 by stuart wellard, on Flickr RF-101 DSC_0058 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0059 by stuart wellard, on Flickr I made a start on the tub of the dash 5 DSC_0063 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0062 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Seem line needs addressing later DSC_0064 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Tail section fuselage sides and underside fits together ok ish althought eh floor is slightly larger than the sides when mating together to you need to open up the sides to match the outer floor dimensions. Can then sand down any excess as shown here. DSC_0065 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Its an easy kit to assemble with the nose bolted to the fuselage, intakes are then added with plate and then the wings which have the LERX? slotting under the intakes. Elevators cemented and all done ready for priming. DSC_0068 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr
trickyrich
welcome along and what a great trio of models you've bought too!! I love them all and they will go together so nicely as well. The only model I sort of know is the F-5A, I built their 1/48th version, nice model but not without issues. Nice to see you're off to a flying start. Good luck with these builds, it'll be great to follow the progress on them, I look forward to seeing them in the gallery.

Hardtarget
Plenty of progress on these three. First up the toom tub. The italeri kit doesn't come with side panel buttons so i took these from a spare fujimi kit. DSC_0056 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0057 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Test fitting and some side wall details. DSC_0058 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Closing up the tub with the fuselage cemented also cementing the underside ready to mate the wings. Fits pretty wells tbh. DSC_0059 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Not much of a wing to fuselage join issues so all good. DSC_0060 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr But just before that hardpoints cemented on the underside along with making up the tanks. DSC_0061 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Now ready for priming DSC_0063 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The RF-5 has its canopy fitted using micro krystal klear and her slats and hardpoints including tip tanks. Hardtarget
Just made a start on the RF-101. First up the cutting of the resin from their respective blocks. There is some clean up of the intake and my set had some resin mold in side so this needed scraping out. DSC_0070 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Undercarriage wheel wells up next DSC_0071 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Resin intake test fitting with the cementing of the top wings to the underside. As you can see im not following the instructions which possible could have led to an issue with the wing fit but im not convinced, You shall find out later. Col.
Great progress Stuart. I'm particularly impressed with how far the Phantom has come but the Voodoo is intriguing me.
Hardtarget
Ok a little bit more done and issues that have arisen. First up it was out with the AK Extreme metals to airbrush the exhausts of the various builds on the go. They will be tweaked once the are on the model and its painted. Jet exhaust, burnt metal, metallic smoke and duralium were used. DSC_0005 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Cockpit assembled and painted. DSC_0001 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Fitting of the fuselage halves is tricking as the fit needs some persuasion so cementing in increments down the seam line is required. DSC_0002 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Then it was addressing the issue with the fit of the wings. Now i will state that i dont know if me cementing the upper to the lower caused this gap as the instructions show that the underside fits to the fuselage first then the upper second. I dont see how this would change the fit to the overall shape of the wings as with this gap you will have the upper wing 2-3 mm overlapping the underwing. Hey ho it was out with the filler. Nikolay Polyakov
Great progress so far, Stuart! 5 hours ago, Hardtarget said: I dont see how this would change the fit to the overall shape of the wings as with this gap you will have the upper wing 2-3 mm overlapping the underwing. You’re right, there is no difference and you’re ended up with the gap anyway. Looks like it’s an engineering issue. Same thing as with the @RidgeRunner‘s second Voodoo build. Looking forward for your progress here.

I got there with my current Valom, although my last was trashed and I started again with a new kit! Not a cheap option! :(. For the Valom you will need to fashion new front u/c doors, wi the triangular section. If it were a A or C fighter you were building you'd also need to make a need pitot. No, just because I haven’t got this kit and choose the bigger 1:48 option. But it’s a nice idea to write a letter!
Hardtarget
Id best post an update with a week to go. So carrying on from last time where we had the fit issues, progress has been good. I got some spraying done starting with the burner cans. DSC_0005 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Then i got started on the aircraft and their camo. All canopies were masked with tape and then the gun was let loose. RF-5 got some colour. DSC_0001 by stuart wellard, on Flickr as did the voodoo prior to canopy being fitted. DSC_0002 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Masked and fitted. DSC_0002 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr and finally the RF-4 with primer first. DSC_0003 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0006 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr Then it was painting the noses DSC_0004 (1) by stuart wellard, on Flickr and undersides. DSC_0005 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr hangy things were next as well as any elevators and other bits and bobs. DSC_0007 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr RF-5 getting its U/C and doors fitted. DSC_0008 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr As was the RF-4 DSC_0009 (2) by stuart wellard, on Flickr All aircraft have now been prepped for some metalisers and then will be decalled.
