The idea was to keep it subtle

And by God you have - that lining is exquisitely restrained Giorgio; some of the best work of its kind I've seen at this scale. :clap2:

Oh yesss. She’s looking every bit a stunner. Nice work, especially on that tricky canopy, 🙌

Johnny

Thanks Johnny   the vacform canopy isn't as tricky as the kit one, but still it's no piece of cake ... :frantic:

A small update for tonight: exhausts glued in

exhausts10

exhausts11

exhausts12

Then a bit of detail painting, to wit the nav and position lights

Next one also shows a very restrained staining around the APU exhausts, made by drybrushing some flat black

That's it for the day, all comments welcome.

I'll be off skiing for a couple of days, so probably no updates next WE   :D

Excellent work as always Giorgio, but are the navigation lights meant to be green on both sides?

AW

No, they are not. Port one should be red. And I'm an a.s.s.   :wall:

I'll fix that, thanks for pointing it out, AW

Looks great, lots of subtle shading, I like.

One question, should the light on the port pod be red?

Thanks Don

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everybody; sorry for the lack of updates, but as I mentioned, last WE I was off on a skiing tour, here (Val Gardena)

sella

Back to the bench during this WE, so here's a progress report.

I did fix port wingtip light :)

wingtiplight

Glued the rudder in position

rudder5

rudder6

Unmasked the cockpit and windshield, to see if everything was still there :D

cockpit20

cockpit21

Then I glued in the intake flaps, too

intake_flaps

and started working on the struts, detailing them with some 0.1mm black copper wire from ModellingTools. Great stuff, it bonds perfectly with CA.

struts1

They received a flat black base coat, followed by the usual off-white, some detail painting and a black tempera wash

struts2

In place

struts3

struts4

The landing lights got painted too: back side with silver

landinglights1

Then a black coat, dark grey drybrush and glued in place

landinglights2

I also started working on the nose sensors, and guess what: one pinged off my tweezers at light speed, never to be seen again. So I had to scratch build one from brass pipe and styrene sheet

sensors1

Hopefully it won't look too bad once painted

Last thing for the night: I glued in the flaperons

flaperons1

flaperons2

flaperons3

flaperons4

There are some glue marks on both inboard flaperons, due to me being clumsy and all - I'll sort them once they are properly cured

She's definitely not a tail sitter

onherlegs1

onherlegs2

That's it for the day, all comments welcome

Ciao
