    OK, that would actually be "Il Carabiniere Pilota" or "Poliziotto sopra le nuvole", but none of them sound really appealing in Italian.

Note to self: learn Italian what she is spoke like. 🤦‍♂️ (You're sacked Google Translate...) 😄

Giorgio I've been meaning to ask you something for ages: in photos like this:

I sometimes see you pick out surface detailing and scribing lines in this most attractive fashion: do you mind me asking how do you do that in way that doesn't cause any problems when paint is added later?

Easy: black tempera wash. It doesn't show through primer and paint at all. :)

Definitely

Hi everybody;

another week went by without time for modelling :(  Luckily I managed some during the WE: more metallic painting, that required more masking.

On the rudder

painting29

and around the plates strips

painting31

But also around  the exhaust cans

painting32

This time I sprayed AK Extreme Metal Steel, and after unmasking

It's all way too shiny now, but the plan is to knock it back with some judicious ( :D as if ...) weathering. Before that, I airbrushed a couple of Aqua Gloss coats on the main airframe and the rudder, so that they are now ready for decals.

I completed the base coat for the exhaust cans with the brush technique, using Model Master Metallizer Exhaust (buffing version)

These will now cure at least overnight before I do any more tone variations.

That's it for the day, all comments welcome

Giorgio, AWESOME work--just catching up--as many others have pointed out, your efforts on the tail's plastic surgery are yielding spectacular results with the paint!  Best, Erwin

Cheers Erwin, thanks for the praise

I've been out to Lyon (France) for a couple of days, attending to an exhibition (business, not modelling related) so once more no progress during the week. I'll hopefully manage something tomorrow :fingerscrossed:

Hi everybody, I did manage to get something done last night. Some detail painting around the arrestor hook

painting41

As it happens, I wasn't quite happy with the metallic hue in this area: the gloss aluminium looks definitely too light, it should be darker. Plus, I found this blemish on one of the exhaust cans

painting42

So I re-masked the airframe

painting43

Who said I was out of post-it notes, anyway? :hmmm:

I've just resprayed AK Extreme Metal Steel on those parts, now curing. Later (or tomorrow, maybe) for more

Ciao

PS: on a different subject, these arrived last week, directly from SWORD: the beautiful RE2005 Sagittario

sagittario

and a propre British jet, or so I'm told :D

You are a perfectionist giemme, no bad thing, as you can back it up!

I feel you know where my vote would go with the above two kits.... but I have to agree it would be good to see you build that lightning in a NMF, just for the tips!

that 2005 is beautiful though.

Your perfectionism knows no bounds Giorgio, looking forward to the new darker metal bits.

Cheers Cookie, thank you  See below for the resprayed parts, but also for next project :D

Same as Cookie above.

I think that the Lightening done your style will look wonderful.

Saying that Re 2005 would look splendid too.

Simon.

Thanks Simon   Lightning seems to be popular around here, ain't it? :D

This is becoming more and more popular ....  :D

Way too kind Rob   And, yes I know you'd like to see the Re2005 (me too, BTW  ), but at the same time you're raising the count of Lightning fans...

Alright, before I post pics of my meagre progress, I just wanted to say that I posted the two new kits pics just to show they arrived; my choice for what's next had already fallen onto the Academy 1/72 F-4 J Phantom. Still, if there's a popular demand for the Lightning, I may change my mind ...  :D Let's see if it gets more votes over the Phantom...

On with the pics: As I said, I resprayed the tail area with AK Extreme Metal Steel, and I like it better

painting44

painting45

The exhaust can got fixed too, and both received a gloss protective coat

painting46

As I probably mentioned before, they are quite a poor representation of the real things, so I'm trying to improve them with painting. So next step will be masking the outer petals and spray some darker color on the others. I may also start with some decals, although I already know next week is going to be a pretty busy one.

Till then, all comments welcome
