NigelC
Hello, Throwing my hat in the ring with an Airfix JP3: If all goes well, to be built as in-flight as a companion piece to this little JP4 ("tarmac" looks a bit bluer in the pic than it is in reality).:
NigelC
The JP progresses ... office done! Gone together very nicely so far.
NigelC
A bit of fettling, assemblage and painting later ... ... and she's ready for a glosscoat and decals at the weekend. Thanks for looking.

NigelC
And it was all going so well ... I got some pics after the glosscoat went on yesterday and I got stuck into decalling this morning. Then one of the underwing decals got itself wrapped around my manouvring brush and exploded 😬 (my own fault - I hate applying "long" decals and had intended to cut the letters and numbers and apply separately, but it was going so well I got carried away) From scaling the code for the other aircraft on the sheet, it looks like the underside code is approximately 8mm tall at 1/72 which seems to scale at about 22" in old money, so I guess that would be a nominal 24" letter size. Any subject expert able to confirm or correct please? I'm looking at aftermarket generic codes but they only seem to be sized up to 12" so either I've completely miscalculated or I need to look at an alternative solution. Thanks and virtual beer to anyone reading this nonsense 🙂 Edit to add "in flight" photos so far: Edited May 12, 2019 by NigelC
Col.
Fairly sure there's 24" codes on some of the Modeldecal sheets and perhaps Xtradecal ones as well. Might be worth a search or if you ain't in a hurry I can check my decal stash and give you some leads later. Edited May 14, 2019 by Col.
NigelC
Thanks @Col. I've found post-war up to 24" in white but only up to 18" in black (unless, of course, they have been mis-labelled). However ... I have a plan so cunning you could hang some Shrikes under it and call it a Wild Weasel* but the execution may have to wait until the weekend. *hmm ... wanders off to check if a SEAD beastie could be entered in The Specialists group build 1

NigelC
Thanks @Dave Swindell - my Google-fu is weak! A bit more research after work, I think
stevehnz
Maybe worth asking in the wanted forum in case anyone has used a different scheme & has these going spare? Just spotted that you don't have enough posts to do this so maybe someone looking at this thread might step up, I've got three boxing's of this so I'd have a spare if no-one closer volunteers. Col.
Certainly makes for a colourful model and always good to see one built 'in-flight'
