Reini78
To accompany the Mexican P-47, my dad also builds a shiny Mexican Vampire, using the old Hobbycraft kit, decals partly will come from the kit (if they still work) and from Aztec. amblypygid
That's a striking scheme! I think it'll look great in those colours.
corsaircorp
Hello Reini ! Good idea, I will follow on if you don't mind it... I have 5 hobbycraft Vampires in the stash ! Sincerely. CC
Reini78
As with all Hobbycraft kits, not that much cockpit detail, but good enough. All in black and a one piece canopy, you won´t see much in the end. Some drybrushing to bring life to the instruments. Reini78
my father forgot to add some weight before he glued the fuselage halves together, so he cut the nose open, added some lead and glued it back on DSC_0006 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr some seatbelts form the sparesbox DSC_0008 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0009 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0010 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr
Reini78
had some struggle to get the "fins" mounted into the air intake, in the end my dad used plastic stripes DSC_0008 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr the kit´s wings would look slightly downwards, so gonna add some plastic sheet on the lower wing-joint area to get the wings more upwards or at least straight DSC_0010 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr
k5054nz
I was intrigued by the idea of a Mexican Vampire, and I love that colour scheme! The bright colours look really nice on the silver.

Reini78
Applied another layer of primer from Mr Paint for the metal paint, but not completely satisfying. As you may see, the primer somehow went runny in the border area to the masks on the wings. DSC_0003 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr
Reini78
although the surface doesn´t look that good (filler remnants, sanded away Mr Paint primer which had a slight problem with the orange AK Real Color on the wings) my dad dares to use the fine pigmented Alclad.....well let´s see how this turns out... Reini78
My dad cancelled this project....after demasking the canopy, there where some mysterious white spot inside the canopy, primer cracks started to show again and the surface in general doesn´t look good due to the mishap with the primer. He should have stopped earlier....maybe in the future a new attempt on this scheme will be dared 😉 still hoping for Airfix to release a 1/48 Vampire family...
