"Zapped" Su-27 in 1990

Hello guys,

I am in the middle of one small research, and I would like Your help to identify something if possible.

https://nara.getarchive.net/media/an-f-16a-fighting-falcon-aircraft-from-the-186th-fighter-interceptor-squadron-ba4d95?fbclid=IwAR3jk26BCM6PHuFNm7D1D_x2T3lfIW6z6D7jWlptBQe-eaAmEmrlqBguKrM

Back in summer of 1990, there were two Su-27 Flankers in Seattle.  It was the end of the cold war, and It was peaceful tour. Both planes were not the Air force Flankers, but Russian Space program unarmed versions.

So here comes the question:
When Flankers went home from the US they had two stickers - "zaps". I identified one after a lot of research. But there is another one, and I am without hope :)
Identified decal/sticker/zap is something like funny US ANG bumper sticker...

Those two stickers are lost and forgotten small part of the history. Everybody knows that famous photo with Su-27 and Montana ANG F-16A, but nobody noticed those two stickers. I've managed to identify that ANG bumper sticker because it was on that plane for several years - including few Air shows in Russia. But that round one is removed very early. It could be anything - local US AF unit, maintenance shop, sport club, city barber... who knows. It looks like something grayish/blueish with white area down left and something yellow/red up there.
Apparently, SU-27 got 'zapped' by the guys with the Shackelton who were also visiting, so it could be something RAF related too.

I have some photos from the Air show, but it looks like they received those stickers after the main show event or just hours before they left the scene.

The question is: what is that round sticker on the intake?

Unfortunately no. I have photos when they came to USA, and many more from the US on various locations. They were clean almost until the very end. These two photos above are the only one I found with visible marking.

So far I have found only this mention of the Su-27s that interest you in Russian internet:

http://forums.airforce.ru/matchast/3582-su-27-istoriya-serii-213/

But here they write that it was LII (Gromov Flight Research Institute

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gromov_Flight_Research_Institute )

aircraft.

You have not quite accurate data about "Russian Space program unarmed versions"

because no Su-27 participated in Russian Space program, their pilots were participants the first group of Soviet cosmonauts (I. Volk, A. Levchenko, R. Stankevicius, O. Kononenko and A. Schukin), who were preparing for flights on the space shuttle "Buran".

In Seattle on Su-27 was Soviet  test-pilot Rimantas Stankevičius

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rimantas_Stankevičius

and

Sergei Tresvyatskiy

https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Тресвятский,_Сергей_Николаевич

(no English Wikipedia version).

Stankevičius was killed in the crash of a Sukhoi Su-27 fighter, '14 Red', at the Salgareda Air Show at Treviso, Italy on 9 September 1990.

Sergei Tresvyatskiy will crash later at IAT 1993 RAF Fairford air show on the MiG-29

(e.t.c. on internet many video this crush)

but due to the unique characteristics of the ejection seat K-36 will remain alive, as and other MiG-29 pilot.

Rimantas Stankevičius was very experienced pilot who participated in combat actions in Egypt in 1971-1972, but unfortunately a very large number of accidents and disasters with elite pilots happens on air shows.

So, for answer on You question,

You need photo Su-27  '14 Red', at the Salgareda Air Show at Treviso, Italy, because have there is a high probability that in such a short time these stickers did not have time to be removed.

B.w. probably I see this Su-27 "red 14"

Salgareda Air Show at Treviso

on some decal, maybe "Begemot"?

This decal "Demo- Flanker's" contains

"Red 14" & "Red 05"

But scan decal instructions on site cutting & no full.

So ask about this Su-27 owner "Begemot" -  member Britmodeller @kotey

Thank You guys. I found few photos from that Air Show in Italy - unfortunately, they are all from the wrong side.

Hmmm...therefore, I did not find on the scan of the decal of "Begemot"

the inscription "My other car is a jet" ..... strangely, the "Begemot" usually takes a very responsible approach to working out its decals...

:(

First way see aviation magazine with walkaround from this air show, because this was old epoch with little internet.

I don't know...maybe France or Italian magazine...

Second way it's "red 05" from LII. You need ask on Russian forum about this Su-27 in profile topic on

scalemodels.ru, airforce.ru maybe there will help.

I remember that this was already discussed somewhere in the Russian forums, but I don’t remember where ... maybe on older versions the forum "rumodelism" or "dish", but I realy don't remember were... 🤗

Maybe this wrong way.😞 Because if this photo really maked in Salgareda Air Show at Treviso, then stick was deleted:

10-14.jpg

There is a true possibility that this photo could be retouched and the sticker on it retouched

or maybe this photo maked up to Seattle, as variations...

Yes!!!!

Was separate topic "Looking for a photo and any information about the Su-27 BN 14, 1990":

http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27786&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

and was topic on old version "rumodelism".

P.S.

Interesting photo this Su-27 with LII team test-pilot:

10-16.jpg

No, these are not bottles of vodka in their hands, as incompetent people in Russian vodka brands might think! 😉😁

It's most famous on Soviet Union Georgia mineral water "Borjomi"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borjomi_(water)

Many believe that this water helps very well with hangover in the morning after a strong drinking....
