Ship Defense...1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4 Kommando Losigkeit

Recommended Posts

My dad decided now for a different scheme.

Hasegawa´s early canopy isn´t molded that nice and it didn´t really fit good. So my dad took a later Hasegawa canopy (needs some sanding too) and will do an E-4. A Romanian E-3 bird will follow in the future with a Tamiya kit.

The scheme will display an aircraft that was initially assigned to Jagdfliegerschule 1 but then was sent to Kommando Losigkeit in Norway in 1942 to defend German ships that were sheltered in the fjords against enemy attacks, I think they also flew convoy escort.

Here are pics of the original aircraft

Aeromaster got the Stammkennzeichen wrong, gonna use some decals from the sparesbox.

What did your Dad think of the AK RC paints?

Not bad, make a nice surface, but some colour tones seem slightly off and, at least when thinly applied, tend to come off when removing Tamiya masking tape.

Well, that's at least my dad's experience, maybe other modelers have other ones.

He doesn't use Mr Color but Mr Hobby, with them he never had any problems when demasking.
