Tamiya 1/32nd De Havilland Mosquito

Recommended Posts

De Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI

This particular version is modeled on one that took part in Operation Jericho, RNZAF, No 487 Squadron

Finally - that took a while!

My first aircraft kit (although I started and finished a Spitfire for a mate in between) and it is a cracker - I know it is expensive, but cannot fault this Tamiya kit. Although I used some Eduard detail kits (engines, guns etc) you certainly do not need these to make the kit amazing.

I'm learning the weathering thing, and I know this is a little 'dirty' - but I thoroughly enjoyed it and learning what I did, having been inspired by the masterpieces elsewhere on this forum...

...sorry, I find it hard to edit the number of photos :)

I want to do some more pics with a bit of photoshop play, backgrounds etc....

And finally - I posted the montage below on FB....

In a word... "Superb". Such a wonderful representation of, IMO one of the most beautiful aircraft of the war. Great work sir 👍

Also thanks for sharing your friends FB reply. That gave me a chuckle.

My aunt assembled Mosquitos at De Havilland Canada.  When I told an aviation museum curator that, 35 years ago, he graciously let me go past the ropes and chin myself up into the open bomb bay of an intact but largely unwashed Mk.XX bomber variant for an unforgettable peek up its skirt.  I still remember the “mood” of how it looked inside, and your rendering of the interior colors and textures looks dead-nuts on!

Smashing model!

Very nicely done Mossie - particularly nice detailing around the engine. Any model which can stand scrutiny in close up like that is top notch!

Cheers
