Rolls Royce Armoured Car

This is Meng's new Rolls Royce armoured car, which can be built in either the 1914 Pattern WWI version or, as seen here, a 1920 Pattern in WWII desert configuration. It's a decent kit, albeit one with a few iffy areas that you wouldn't expect from a Meng kit. Despite that, it's still lightyears ahead of the old Roden kit and builds into a very nice model.

The caunter was painted with a mix of AK's Real Color shades and some Tamiya mixes, mainly for the Silver Grey as the AK version didn't look very convincing.

The full build can be found here

Another cracking build Andy, like the weathering, particularly the tires the way the dust looks like it has been spun out from the wheels going around, you seem to have a eye for these details with all your builds 👍

hould it have German pattern Jerricans, which weren't issued until 1939?

The Caunter scheme was in use in North Africa 1940-41 so yes, I'd think this pattern of Jerry can could well be appropriate.

One minor comment - should it have German pattern Jerricans, which weren't issued until 1939?

Yes, they'd be appropriate here. These are actually British issue cans, complete with War Department stamps. Those, and the POW cans on the other side, are from the same Bronco accessory set, which is a very handy set to have around when you need to clutter up a build with general stuff.

Actually, I say the cans are accurate, but I need to check to be sure. There are two varieties of jerry can in the set, some stamped '1940' and some '1943' although otherwise, they're identical. I think I used the 1940 versions here, but you can't read the moulded text without a magnifying glass. The '43's wouldn't be out of the question, but far less likely than the '40's.
