Now the question... is it going down or coming up? Stephen King could write a book about this...

Odd you say that, because my first thought was that it looked like some sort of sand monster clawing it's way up towards its hapless prey!

Very well done, and a break from the norm in a very good way.

There's got to be a backstory, surely.........

Renek, did you park the  car on the sand and the tide came in........? Desert bashing over quicksand ? Caught in a sandstorm ?

Don't keep us in suspense.......

The idea was ... in the desert he found his end ... but it's been a long time. The grave with the cross is barely visible...

Looks like my wife’s been out driving again.

Seriously though, great job. Looks like something from that Namibian mining town that was abandoned in the 40s, Kolmansop I think it was called.

I confess I hadn't noticed that either but it is in keeping with the pathos the rest of the dio conveys, maybe a French Foreign Legion Patrol happening upon this sad wreck, perhaps years after the event, the sad desiccated remains of the driver alongside his hopelessly stuck vehicle, a perfunctory service & a quickly constructed cross, his only memorial. I applaud the story telling your dio shares with us, each to interpret in our own way. Bravo.

Nogent-sur-Marne, 1979:

Thierry:  Hey, chum.  Where you been all week?  What’s new?

Didier:  My great-uncle in Provence died and left me his farm.

Thierry:  Hah!  I can see you now, milking the goats!

Didier:  Me neither.  But his old jalopy was in the barn.  And it runs....

Thierry:  So?

Didier:  You’ve heard of this new thing, the Paris-Dakar rally?

Thierry:  (...)

Didier:  Well?  Whaddaya think?

Thierry:  That.....

Didier:  Go on.

Thierry:  That is an EXCELLENT IDEA!!
