Crane
Hey Folks, I am finishing up my Hellcat and have a few questions on details. What color should the lights on top of the fuselage be? Should the antenna wire be the double wire type? if so, does the vertical one attach where I put the red circle? Did the vertical line between footstep and handle appear on all aircraft? My Walk Around book has not arrived yet and I'm anxious to get this build done. TIA Edited April 23, 2019 by Crane
pat d
The forward fuselage spine light is blue, the next one has a clear lens. the antenna wire comes from the tail fin mast to the main antenna then down to a port in the right fuselage side into a resistor cone shaped fitting Factory paint had the foot step line not always replaced on repainting
Duncan B
When I did my Hellcat I used a small piece of brass tube as the entry point. I drilled a suitable sized hole to take the tube, painted the end of it white and slide it in until just a MM or so was sticking out and glued with superglue (the glue was actually applied to the tube so that as it slid in it spread the glue). The photo below shows the tube in place and the EZLine thread being attached hence the extra length hanging down. I hope that helps. pat d
EDIT! Apologies I have the spine light colors reversed The forward light is clear the rear is blue. I mistakenly used a restoration in a museum. Here are WW2 color photos Edited April 23, 2019 by pat d
Crane
Thank you all! When I googled this stuff I get all scale models, none of which helped. I guess it has to do with search history.
