I have made a start and have painted the props, unfortunately they look like a great big black blob. Assembled the wings and part of the fuselage which looks nothing like the real aircraft. New instrument panel, kit one on the left which is not even close to the prototype. I will use some decals for the instruments. My attempt at a new ejection seat for the brave pilot. The ejection seat still needs some work and where it is all to go. I have packed the seat up a little as I think it sits a little low. Thanks for stopping by. John R Posted April 25, 2019 Share Posted April 25, 2019 I built one of these many years ago before AMS was first mooted so have no views on its accuracy. Mine went together without much trouble. The only things that spring to mind are some thin plastic around the air intake and the decals which were very thin and not very accurate sizewise. Good luck. Andre B Posted April 26, 2019 Share Posted April 26, 2019 (edited) Mmm... What I remember there is a "step" between the air intakes an the wings on the kit that isn't on the real thing. It should be smoth as can be seen on the second photo of the real thing. What I remember I sanded away that step on the topside of the air intakes. And I think that the round "top" (painted grey on the second image) of the "underside" (ventral?) rudder/fin should be cut of and levelled with the antenna/pitottube depending stages on the prototype testing programe. I havn't seen any photos with the Pogo flying with both "ruddertops" rounded. Check with photos. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_XFY_Pogo Otherwise I didn't have any problems with the kit. As it has some rather deep "Matchbox" type panellines I think it can be wetsanded i little making the panellines finer. I also think that this kit would be perfect for an "adhesive aluminium foil project" as in Clive_t's MiG 15 foiling build... Following with interest! This seems to have had a bit chopped off outboard of the landing gear. It is present on images prior to test flights and then removed. The bit removed. Thanks for looking.
