Those Hammer Horrors were the best,i remember in the 70's they used to have double bill's of a saturday night on beeb 2...I knew i'd end up falling asleep so i'd record them and watch them sunday morning...

 

There was another ending with Christopher Lee on ice over a moat or something with Peter Cushing (i think) trying to crack the ice but i can't find it worse luck...

I bought the first series and you're close about it being the best cop drama ever but? lol...

And when this movie came out we had two cinemas in my town and one of these theatres played this movie exclusively nearly for fifteen months and forsaking all other movie releases at the time. And it played for an extended period at the local drive-in as well. Got boring quite quickly...
