What are those colors?? Captioned: "A very rare color photograph of a Bf 109 B-1 being the centre of attention for a group of Hitler Youth, obviously on a visit to a Luftwaffe station in 1938" in Aviation Classics issue 18, 2012

First, I suspect the date is wrong,  and the info below says it's a trainer..

A school machine. Like many later Jumo machines, it has already been equipped with the exhaust sockets of the Bf 109 E.

Given ww2 colurs photography, and depending on date,  either the 1940 71/02/ 65  scheme, or a full repaint into standard 74/75/76.

given the Stammkennzeichen, I assume it's identity is known?

Er, the Stammkennzeichen is its identity.  I entirely agree that the date is wrong.  In 1938 Bf109Bs would be in 71/72 over 65, with a low demarcation.  There was another published photo of a training Jumo Bf109, in one of the Kookaburra L/w colours books, probably the replacement first volume?

PS Shame he didn't photograph the Stosser.

I'm no expert but I think Troy is right.

Later than the date of 1938 (by a mile) and the camo pattern on the wings doesn't look 'standard' in layout either.
