NA Harvard RNZAF

Recommended Posts

This is it!  Finished last night. Airfix kit from a poly bag issue(see WIP) Falcon Vac canopy with decal striping for the framing in silver and yellow, scratch made exhaust and pitot, cockpit interior from Pavla resin set and decals by Ventura. Xtracrylix paint for the red and light grey. Almost forgot, I also replaced the wheels as I lost one of the original kit wheels but found a suitable matching pair.

Might need to overlay the yellow framing with another set of yellow decal stripes... currently they look a bit dull.

Well there you have it. My modelling mojo restored, for how long I don't know but stay tuned for another I put together in between working on this ole feller.

PS: The Ventura decals performed really well! Very pleased with them!!!

Paul you have really done that justice, cracking work you have ended up with a real beauty.

This is got to be one of the most attractive schemes going.

Thanks for sharing and I am glad your Mojo has been restored.

All the best

Chris

Great scheme, very familiar.

I think the Harvard is one aircraft that always looks better with rivets, so even the old Airfix and Monogram kits manage to feel more realistic than later engraved kits.

Saw this particular Harvard at Wigram in the flesh, mid-late 1970's,

along with her displays in the Red Checkers.

They were often parked in the hangars where my Dads section was

FYI The RNZAF Harvard's cowling at the time, had light grey interior

Nice little bit of info. I did my cowl interior light grey but with a thinned black wash. In my pics it looks darker than it is..

I know that issue, had it happen just few days ago, ah the joys of modelling:)

Glad to hear your mojo's back Paul.

She's turned out really well and that canopy is particularly impressive.

Great job :)
