Airfix 1/72 Messerschmitt Me 262A-1a

Recommended Posts

Probably the last submission for today is the new tool Airfix Me 262A-1a using the kit decals. I broke off the pitot tube many times so eventually replaced it with a brass one from Fine Molds.

Speaking of the devil... I was just mentioning this kit in a reply in my post!

Very nicely finished indeed. I have it in my stash precisely to make this option and just hope it comes out as well as yours. Superb!

Be really careful with the blue and white checker decal that goes on the rear fuselage. Mine ended up cracking in multiple places trying to get it to conform to the surface of the kit. Fortunately, I had a second kit and since I wasn't going to build this scheme again I appropriated the decal from that kit and cut out pieces of it to apply over the defects in the original one. In the end, it came out pretty well and you can't tell that there are two layers of decal in some places. I'm glad I didn't have to touch up the cracked areas with paint.
