Phantom FGR2 - 23 Sqn/1435 Flt - 1/48

Recommended Posts

I built this last year from the Hasegawa 74sqn version of the kit but I wanted a 23 Sqn/1435 Flt Phantom based at Stanley Airport in the Falkland Islands so used after market decals, resin seats, wheels, etched IP, intake blanks and Sidewinders from Eduard.

My most enjoyable build so far and one that I think is probably the best I have produced.

some photos were taken before the missiles were fitted.

Great work! How did you make your base?

I used a cheap photo frame with Wills concrete sheets to create the segmented concrete base and distressed them with a sharp tool to replicate the cracks. I painted it a shade of concrete with some weathering to post shade the joins, a wash to highlight the cracks and coloured paint pens from hobby craft for the taxi lines.
