KAYELL
Hi Folks, A slow start on this one Lots of other stuff to finish so managed to get a couple of hours in last night to start. Lower tub wheels and suspension completed. Build was very straightforward nothing to complain about...so far. Cheers Keith

KAYELL
Hi Folks Have managed to get in some work and progressed somewhat. Upper hull now comlete The tracks in this kit are the link and length type. Looked ok but would not glue together, so were binned! I turned to the Bronco set 6 parts per link! However once a system is worked out they can be completed at a slow but steady pace......about 20 an hour. Taking the individual components from the 6 sprues took me 3 hours So one side complete and the other 70 odd to do for the other side. Re post in a few days Cheers Keith 5
Hewy
Detailed if time consuming, well done though, I know bronco tracks are fiddley

Corsairfoxfouruncle
Sorry to hear the originals were no good. The Bronco tracks though a pain in the rump, do look good and will lift your build to the next level. Happy to see this and all of the builds progressing. beefy66
Nice start and the tracks will certainly lift this old kit along with some of your paint magic. beefy
KAYELL
Hi folks At last I now have two sets of tracks on. Took a while as Ive been concentrating on getting sorted for the Scottish show at Perth and the fact that these tracks cannot be rushed Pleased with result, concentrate on the turret now! Corsairfoxfouruncle
Good to see it up on its tracks. 👍
KAYELL
Starting on the turret now I found the basket on the rear of the turret quite a tricky build, took me all afternoon. when I bought the kit(ages ago) it had no instructions, these had to be downloaded. The mesh on the basket uses two templates (correct size), however the downloaded instructions were too small , so I had to improvise by drawing around the basket ribs then cutting and trimming some metal mesh from a frying pan splatter guard Cheers Keith
Hewy
Great improvising on the basket, it looks the part, you need a campaign medal the size of a dustbin lid for those tracks, very nice though
KAYELL
Hi folks Had a very industrious building day today Completed the turret (apart from the tow cables) Used the Lo models conversion kit to make it a M60A3 version...don't know if this is accurate or not, done now but advice is welcome. Onward to primer and paint! Cheers Keith
beefy66
Looking forward to the painting part of your build. beefy
PlaStix
Fantastic progress Keith! Paintwork, basketwork and trackwork all look superb!! Kind regards, Stix
KAYELL
Primed and ready for some green I think I will not be too adventurous and just go for an olive green /black green finish, don't like the 4 tone finish. Or I could leave it grey for a Battle of the Bulge film remake 😁 Note the small white handle that I had to scratch build after losing it after priming Cheers Keith
KAYELL
Got some paint on it Changed my mind and went for a 4 tone scheme...don't like it should hsve left it in grey However will get some stowage on and see what some washes can do Cheers Keith
PlaStix
Hi Keith. Why don't you like it? I think you have done a great job with a complex scheme! Very well done! Kind regards, Stix
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Great job on the camouflage. 👍
Yetifan
Fun with MERDC 🙂 looks good to me these schemes were hand applied so you can use artistic licence. The colours will tone down with some weathering. The XF-5 green on mine looked sooo bright when it first went on but will be fine with a filter and washes on it. 1
KAYELL
Thanks guys for your comments I think I was turned off by the starkness and of it to me looking unrealistic. I've added a bit of stowage and will get some washes on it soon. Cheers Keith
beefy66
Looking great so far I like the camouflage scheme something different to a monotone one colour paint job keep it up looking forward to seeing this all stowed up. beefy
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Hello Keith... Just passing this on to everyone. We’re crossing the halfway mark on our time allotment. Really enjoying what I'm seeing so far, keep up the good work. Dennis
KAYELL
Hi folks Going to call this one complete The build was fairly straightforward, with the conversion set to make it an M60A3 The tracks took a fair amount of time due to their complexity but they came out well(actually workable) Still not comfortable with the camo though! Will put some more images in Gallery Cheers Keith
PlaStix
Hi Keith. What a fantastic result! I personally think you can put your concerns about the camo to one side. I think it looks great - especially with everything in place and with your excellent weathering on top! Very well done.
