Mirage F-1C "Tiger Meet" [Special Hobby 1/72]

Recommended Posts

Hi

I think it not necessary to present the Mirage F1 Special Hobby kit

They are plenty build of this kit on the net.

I have in my stach the F-1C "armée de l'air" box with a Tiger Meet scheme.

Now it is the time to start this kit.

I start with the cockpit.
The cockpit is well detailled for the scale.

I use the decals for the instrument but I had cut it in 3 parts (right, center, left) for a better fit.

I dry brush the bath and paint some button for having a little color in this black univers.

After I paint the exhaust nosle

May be this part could be more thin but for plastic injection, it is in the norm. Some manufacturer have this part at the same level than resin part like the Kfir C2/C7 by AMK.

I use the Alcad paint. I didn't see some pics of a real plane and I inspired him from the artbox.

I star also the fuselage.

The air intake need some fillers espcially for one side.

I glued the nose part too and I didn't follow the advice.

The wing need a little filler too

And now a global view of the plane.

At this moment, I haven't any major probleme. I think this is a good kit even for the begginer.

The fuselage is now close

I encounter no problem during this operation. The adjustment are very well.

I placed a weight in the noise and behind the seat wall for around 10 gramme.

I painted the last piece of the cockipt : the sight. Special give a piece in clear plastic. I painted the under side in green. I masked the sight and paint the piece in black.

Now I can start the paint.

I used the H42 for extrado and alcad semi matt alu for intrado.

For the extrado, I used the pre shade technique and for intrado post shade.

For the extrado I picked up the shade with sparaying lighter paint alternately. I used a mix of H42 (6 parts) and H11 (4 parts) with a strong dillution

And finaly, I paint the tail. My dealer didn't have the Gunze paint. I used Tamiya yellow with little orange yellow.

I made a mask with the decals for model

I repainted the tail because the shape was not good. The border between the black and the yellow must be blurred

In paint the red of air intake and mask it

The canopy is in place but and receive his mask too.

Now I can start to paint the fuselage with the same way that the wing.

I start with the blue because alcad paint didn't appricaite the masking process. Sometime the paint gones with the mask :(

I created a piece in cardboard to insert in the airintake to do the delimitation between the blue and alu paint.

Next step : the decals set

There are so many decals that I that I thought of having made a mistake kit and it is not a Mirage F1 but a F4 kit

But no it is well a Mirage F1 kit

I start with decals tails and find a terrible mistake.
I forgot to paint the round for the insignia in blue. I was thinking that the center is in blue on the decals but not. It is clear. Too late ... the decals is in the water. I save it by letting it in water until I painted the round !

I spent one afternoo setting them

I spent a Tamiya brown panel line in the structural line.

Now it look like a tiger meet F1

Next step: the gears
