Tamiya 1/48 Dewoitine D 520 GC II/18 Saintonge

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

here is my latest build, the D 520 from Tamiya in 1/48. The Luftwaffe used the D 520 to train their pilots. Free french forces get these planes back from German pilot school in late 1944 to use them against their former owners in the south west of France.

Superbe!

Late war D520 are not legion, and this one is spot on.

Congrats

That´s a beautiful model and scheme! Really liked the weathering and worn paint.

Are those german colours or was it the original french camouflage? And also what colours are those?

Best regards

Ignacio

Hi guys,

Thanks for your nice comments.

The tricolour tail and cocardes are painted. THe blue is a mix of Gunze H 45 light blue (five parts) and H 53 neutral grey (3 parts). The red is the Gunze H 86 red madder.

The original camouflage is german (RLM 74/75/76). The markings were overpainted with german shades (RLM 76) and mottled with fresh RLM 74 (so darker than the original faded by time RLM 74)

Cheers,

Manu.
