DaveJL
Decals on. All, apart from the serial numbers and 56 SQN insignia at the front, are from the kit. Only issue I had was chopping up the Xtradecal serial numbers around the landing gear area. Tedious and time consuming! Will get these sealed in with another coat of Pledge tomorrow and let it cure until Thursday; will get the panel wash on then. More soon. DaveJL
Almost fell together over the last two days. Panel wash, flat coat and minimal weathering all added. Once set, the landing gear was popped in, (missing front undercarriage part arrived safe and well thanks to @stever219) fuel tanks went on, canopy and seat added then the remnants of the masking removed. One issue..... she's a tail sitter!! I obviously didn't add enough nose weight but a piece of blu-tack to the underside of the nose wheel will sort it for display. Will get more pictures up in RFI later this evening. The project so far: Getting harder to fit all the builds in one frame now! As always, thanks to those who helped me throughout the Hunter build. Will be taking a break from this for a few months as I've several entries for upcoming group builds but if things go to plan, should be back at this with the Tornado sometime in the summer. Also starting to collect bits for a similar project... guesses on a postcard! More soon. Dave

Cheers mate. I'm starting to run out of room! Will definitely need another visit to Ikea soon if I go ahead with my next project idea after this one! DaveJL
Made a return to this project after a few months hiatus. Going to build the Hurricane alongside a Spitfire IX for an ongoing Group Build. So, to recap, here's the kit; Extras: CMK resin seat, AML paint masks, Eduard canopy mask and Sky Models decals. Will be marked as N2359 of 17 Squadron based at Debden in June 1940. A bit of progress today. Built up the wing spars and cockpit area. Very nicely engineered and goes together well: Resin seat and respective panel: Landing gear bulkheads fitted: Not much but good to be back at this one. Like I say, hope to build in tandem with a Spitfire. Mustn't forget to get that Su-33 finished first More soon. Dave
DaveJL
A bit more done today. All the framing was sprayed silver and details added. Seat and armour plating also fitted in: Once dry, I fitted the framing to the lower wings then popped on the uppers. Good fit, just the usual tape needed to secure: Fuselage halves sprayed interior green, with a light wash added: More soon. Dave
DaveJL
A bit more done on the Hurricane. Added the wings to the fuselage halves but had a bit of trouble fitting the front end. Needed some clamping and filler. The radiator intake was also a bit of a bad fit and will also require filler. Airfix kits just don't seem to agree with me at times! Other than that, it's looking ok: Beside Eduard's Spitfire IX: Not much left to do other than clean up the intake and add a few small bits. Hopefully plain sailing from there! More soon. DaveJL
Ready for the paint shop. I've left off the radio mast behind the cockpit as it will interfere with the paint masks. Sub assemblies: More soon. Dave
DaveJL
Primer on and a fairly rough pre-shade added. I left the rear fuselage without any shading as there are no panels in this area. Should hopefully get the camouflage on tomorrow. Dave
DaveJL
Main painting now completed. Undersides sprayed with Sky, masked and then started on the camouflage. Brown first and once set, on went the AML masks. Very easy to use: Small bit of blu-tack needed around the cowling just to tidy up the masked area: And with the heap on: Will get the gloss coat on over the next few days and let that cure until Sunday when all being well I'll get the decals on. More soon. Dave

DaveJL
More done over the weekend. Model given a few coats of Pledge and left to set. Decals went on this morning, sealed in with another gloss coat: A mixture of the kit decals and the Sky sheet. I've also added some aluminium dry brushing around the cockpit boarding areas to simulate paint wear/fade. Hoping to get a panel wash, some weathering and a flat coat on tomorrow. DaveJL
Calling this one done. Flat coat went on, some oil weathering, chipping with AK's weathering pencils and then the final bits and pieces attached. My first Hurricane and I'm quite happy with it. Beside the Tamiya MK1 Spitfire: The Mig brown on the Spit is a bit darker than the MRP shade used on the Hurricane. I'll be using the latter on my Eduard MK1s when they arrive, think it's closer to the correct shade. The lot so far: Thanks to all who have commented/followed to date. Tornado F.3 next 😎 Dave
