Seamus
Afternoon all, Here's some images from a great day on the fence at Fairford last week. I spent all day at the base, catching five of the deployed BUFFs depart mid morning and later returning in some of the best light you could wish for. Their arrival is arguably the most enjoyable half an hour I've had in this hobby In the order they were taken... modelling minion
Those really are excellent pictures Shaun. I like the last one, very atmospheric.
spruecutter96
A lovely set of Buff images. Incredible to think this is a design which first flew in the early 1950's (and might still be in service 30 years from now). Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
colin
Very sharp photos, talk about stressed skin effect on model kits nowadays, that would take some doing replicating whats shown on the fuselage on these pictures

Smudge
I saw one of these flying over Cambridgeshire on the way to Fairford. So pleased to see that someone has been able to take some pictures and post them on here for our enjoyment. Those are really cracking shots, nice work. Are these all taken from outside the base? Looks like you can get quite close to the action. Cheers.
Seamus
Thanks all, much appreciated 19 hours ago, Smudge said: Are these all taken from outside the base? Fairford has pretty good access all around the base, but you can get especially close up the Western end as they taxy off the runway, it's an awesome spot. Thanks again, Shaun Edited April 2, 2019 by Seamus 1
Alan P
Great pics! When you see the serials listed like that (60, 61) it's just incredible these things are still in service. Alan

Mikey-1980
Stunning pics....Wonder where there were flying to? Anything else of interest at Fairford?
MR2Don
Excellent shots. One thing catches my eye. There appears to be a sort of ripple pattern down the fuselage side just ahead of the wing root. Is that the paint scheme or it is rippling of the panels?
Paul J
Rippling of the panels A feature of B-52s. Not a great fan of current day USAF but the Buff dates back to the middle of the last century and can still be liked. Probably being flown by grand sons of the original pilots Great photos again Shaun!
Seamus
Thanks for the additional comments. 23 hours ago, Mikey-1980 said: Stunning pics....Wonder where there were flying to? Anything else of interest at Fairford? On this day, they went North to the Norwegian Sea where they played with Norwegian F-16s, but during their deployment they've been to the Baltic, the Black Sea, Morocco and the odd local flight around the UK, so a fairly varied range of missions compared the usual BALTOPS. Three BUFFs are due to depart today, with the other three likely to follow tomorrow, so Fairford will be back to it's usual quiet self by the end of next week once all the support personnel and equpiment has left too.
Mikey-1980
Just stumbled across this footage from last Friday This looks like the footage from the very missions you were on about? Edited April 5, 2019 by Mikey-1980
