Uncle Dick
Came across this image of an EA-6A on http://www.aircraftslides.com and had to ask what is the grey pod on the outer wing station, moreover I thought Intruders/Prowlers (the A-6 and EA-6 family as a whole) had only 5 hard points (clearly not)! from this image they could clearly have an additional hard point on the wing making it 7 all up; first time I have seen this load out - if you have seen images of A-6 or EA-6 with these additional hard points please share as I would be interested to see what was carried there and whether the additional hard points were only used on the EA-6A? Reminds me of the F-111 which could have additional wing hard points... Finn
It's an AN/ALE - 41 chaff dispenser: http://mil-spec.tpub.com/MIL-D/MIL-D-81893A/MIL-D-81893A00033.htm Only the EA-6A had the extra outboard pylons, the A-6F was going to have them but it was cancelled.
