The ladder is designed to be folded at the hinge below the handrail. It's amazing how much one can learn from studying a photograph! We went from Houston-Austin-Dallas-Alexandria-New Orleans-Jackson-Meridian-Montgomery-Atlanta-Panama City-Atlanta. Lots of luvverly Thuds, Phantoms and Voodoos. . Almost every base let us in and around their ramps, often un-escorted. I pre-arranged most visits in the days of only snail mail ;). If you love Thuds you need James Geer's book - excellent. The Milliput was left overnight to harden and chopped into blocks of the same length. The blocks were glued in position to the fuselage with 5-minute epoxy and the corners rounded with files. The Y shapes are made from plasticard. Even before it was released, this kit met with an intense barrage of ferocious critics. I wanted to show that the KH RF-101 was not such a bad kit and that it can be turned into a pleasant ride while correcting the "horrendous" errors. There's a resin cockpit from AIRES / Quickboost for the F-101A/C that can be adapted for the recce variant. Otherwise the Eduard PE cockpit is quite acceptable– especially the IP. While doing one last walkaround before going to the paint shop, I stopped at the burner cans which always look odd to me. Indeed they don't have that special Voodoo 'look'. So, out the photographs. I soon discover that the kit exhausts are too long and need to be shortened. The central ring should be removed, leaving the last part – with its positioning notch – intact.
