Stuart Thanks Stuart I'm enjoying this, a lot! One good thing about the kit is that I can pick bits to do depending on my mood! 17 hours ago, Tomoshenko said: Happy anniversary Ced, now get on with the modelling. Great job on painting (and preshading 😉 ) the spinners Ciao Thanks Giorgio Last night I glued the tanks together: i also micro-meshed the overspray off the spinners and applied some AK True Metal 'dark aluminium': I love this stuff, and there'll be lots more on this build! Including some gunmetal and dark aluminium on the nose: Trying to insert the spigots in the spinners showed some nasty flash on both parts: … but once removed they fitted beautifully: so the props were assembled: We're all looking forward to seeing what the prop tip decals look like eh? Well, they're fiddly to apply as when you move one it knocks the other but after some time they were on: Trouble is, as expected, the carrier sticks out AND they leave a gap between the decals: I gave up then and used the Liquidex pen for the other five tips: I've also assembled the cockpit and painted the back of the cockpit (missed it): Pilot recruited and installed: There's no room for the pilot's legs so I used one of my legless molding failures. With that done there was no reason not to glue the halves together: The fit is really good but there's a tiny bit of gapping, hence the pegs. I'll let that dry for a bit over lunch. Watched an interesting video on the P-38 too. Great stuff.

TheBaron
PreCeding* is now a bona fide modelling technique: 'PreCeding: where a modeller announces a new build and his compatriots log on to the thread in anticipation of much good humour and tool revelations' Bravo Mr. B. The radiator covers are supposed to be a snug fit in here: …but even with much dry fitting I still got this: It looks as though there's some extra plastic on the inside of the covers: …which I'll be more careful to remove on the others. I've messed around with the charger/exhausts: I'll put those on at the end. That said I'm running out of bits to stick: Remind me to paint some anti-glare on the inside of the nacelles now they're together.

TheRealMrEd
Looking goo so far! Just a heads up if it matters -- the kit has the gun camera mounted on both pylons, while it should only be on the left hand one: and, it is also missing the landing light on the left wing... Cheeky Thanks to Keith's reminder I masked and sprayed the anti-glare on the nacelles: Note that I remembered the bit on the canopy. Unlike this bit: Rats. Not to worry, I'll squirt some clear stuff in there at the end.

Navy Bird
Oops, I missed your anniversary. So, er, Happy Anniversary! Me and Mrs. Bird are at 44 years, plus 4 years of high school malarkey. I knew she was a keeper when she gave me (maybe for my 15th birthday?) the Revell 1:32 F4U-1 Corsair with Ira Kepford's markings. I think the kit was a "new tool" right around that time. In true "Cedtastic" joy, I hung it from my ceiling. However, one day it did not survive an unexpected loss of altitude. Cheers, Bill 7
Cookenbacher
It's a risk any scale model would take, to soar among the light fixtures and textured ceilings - Cedtastic indeed. The latest is looking great Ced! 3

Sorry Ced If it were up to me Ben I'd keep sausages out of the thread but hey, it's a democracy, so do your Wurst 🧥 A few happy minutes were spent yesterday brushing Dark-Aluminium and Aluminium paste over the model: As per Ed's suggestion I sanded the erroneous camera off one of the pylons and gave them a brushing too: Some rare masking mojo allowed me to do this: I've just brushed some paste onto that too. A few minutes glueing bits on and she'll be ready for transfers I reckon. 18

CedB
Thanks Chris, Bill, Simon and Strickers Happy with the canopy: So on with the transfers. I don't think the 'devil' is going to settle on the nose, even with a splash of Daco Strong: I may have to leave it off. I'm also worried about these: Bottom of the fin - how can they be the same on both sides? Top, bottom and one side done:
