Popular Post CedB
One day in June 2017 we had a family get together. On the way back we stopped off at a model show and met up with our own @perdu. My sister and brother-in-law both agreed that he was a nice man. A very very nice man. While sitting in the cafe I noticed a Nimrod amongst the models hanging from the ceiling. "If you want one of those, I have one for you" said Bill. And so the story started... A challenge it was. Not just the longest build (four months!) but also one of the most, er, modified kits I've done. Helpful BMers kept telling stories of their time on Nimrods (you know who you are) and so, of course, I had to try to replicate their memories. There's a 40 odd page WiP here with lots of input on Nimrods. Oh, and sausages (don't ask). Here are some shots; I hope you like her. Airfix kit with Alleycat canopy and bomb bay. Colourcoats grey on Stynylrez white primer. W&N satin varnish. Xtradecal transfers and (gulp) kit stencils. Some detail shots from the WiP… Dirty bay doors: The crew, one with scratch built headset and mic: on Flickr 102

philp
Nice to see this one finally wrapped up. Still have to decide if I will ever get to mine. So many models, so little time. What is next on the bench?
SandyBay
What a gorgeous model, I was an engine man on Nimrods at Kinloss, St Mawgan and on 51 Sqn at Wyton and you’ve made a brilliant representation of an aircraft which has many many happy memories for me. 2
