Amodel Gee-Bee R-1 racer 1/72

Recommended Posts

This is a build from 2005, 14 years ago, and like the just posted Nucoa Nieuport, nothing special, just fun:

If this shows anything at all of interest, is that we all can improve, especially on placing the model on a quarry:

I made a second one form the Airframe vac kit:

That really captures the pug-nature of those racers - all engine with a stub wing and cockpit attached. Looking at tis model it is easy to see why the death rate among the pilots who flew them was quite high. A lovely model and certainly one I would be proud to have in my collection.

Moa..........another “home run” with the excellent demarcation between the red and white colors with zero bleed through.  👏

I must decline credit for that feat, Sky Keg (by the way "sky keg" is a nickname that applies perfectly to these Gee Bee racers): Amodel provides as decals the demarcation zone, the modeler just fills in the remaining red space....trying to match the color!

"Nothing special"...😂😂😂

That's a beautiful gloss finish, the colour matching is seamless. Great modelling once again.
