That'll need some shelf space! I remember seeing some 1/72 747s at Hannants in Lowestoft once many moons ago. Not sure what manufacturer they were, but the fuselages were being stored in a plastic dustbin! 🙂

Well, this caused some palpitations here in the capital city of 72 Land. The OP says fibreglass with resin. Also that it is a new company (but not necessarily new creators?) Fibreglass sounds a bit like it might be some gents from Modelsvit, which I think originally spawned from AModel. No talk of plastic parts in the post. But I'd take a Modelsvit version. Oh, be serious, I've wanted a (non-resin) 747 for so long I'll likely buy it unless it really is an obvious unbuildable disaster. All I have to do is survive until 2021!

:analintruder: That's 48 by 42 cms approx, yeh?

Actually, in 1/72 scale it is  approx 98 by 83cms.

Aircraft is 71m long with 60m wingspan.

A bold choice to be sure and, they would not be doing it unless they were sure it would sell. However, I wonder how large the market would actually be for such a model?

Good luck to them though and,to those who can afford what is very likely to be a jumbo sized price tag! 😉😊.

Last time I received from an old modelers wife  a lot of parts from the AIM Boeing 747.

The man had cut the fuselage in part and some parts are missing. But I worked with the cockpit section.

Only this part is huge.

For a bigger once I have not enough space.

Excellent idea - I wonder if manufacturers would be open to something like this: selling sections of such a big plane separately. I don't have enough room either but a nose or tail section only - that would be great.

I suspect the manufacturer, whoever it is, knows the models will sell. How many will be built is another matter entirely. Again the lack of room to display is an issue but modelers who can afford the kit will buy it. A very big box in the unbuilt kits stash.

Ah, thanks Allan. :worthy:

I real fancy to have both the 1/72nd scale Boeing 737 200 and this 747 100 as well, even though I only build in 1/48th scale.

Wish someone would do a 1/48 Fokker F28 1000. That would be my dream come true.

Yeh, me would...

Cheers,

You're welcome! 😊

Actually, I think that many airliners, being of relatively modest dimensions are,  quite practical in 1/72.

Certainly, types like the 737/A320 series, Comet, Caravelle, Trident, 727,BAC 1-11.....

I better stop now! 🤣.

Ps I wish you well with your 747!. Just a tad too big for my liking on 1/72!

And I thought my 1/100 kits were big... :S

I have long thought that 1/100 is a sort of nice "in between" scale. It's a shame it hasnt been more widely used.

I’ve built a 1/72nd 747 and if you do buy this, be prepared for a wrestling match every time you bring it to the workbench.

When building mine I was continuously knocking stuff off my bench, whacking the wall with various sticky-out bits and the lamp went MIA on numerous occasions.

So prepare yourselves - not only will you need to spend a fortune on buying the kit, you’ll need to invest in an extension to your house to build and then store it.

Expensive times
