nice beast, how to do with those big rivets?

Thanks, Lucio! I think these rivets will partially gone during the fuselage cleanup, because it’s a lot of seam lines and other things. It would not be having to recreate them after that! 😬

a good primer?

Maybe, but I’ve never used it.

Hello Britmodellers! 😉

Thumbs up! The sanding nearly finished and now all the things looks much better. The tail cone attached and cleaned:

The forward section of the fuselage:

And the trickiest part - the spine - was sanded and now waiting for the panel lines to be rescribed:

I don’t know what to do with the lost rivets, but I think I can back to them after the scribing works.

Thanks for looking! 😎

Just catching up with your build, some good progress.

Thank you, Colin! 😉 I’m glad that I (almost) passed an intensive sanding phase, so it’s time to move forward!

I do like the cockpits...

Yes, looks not bad I think. I hope the resin seats will be a cherry on a pie...

Nikolay,

Sorry I missed this from the start up. Appears to be a great looking kit. Your methods are outstanding on supporting the center section of the fuselage. All is coming together wonderfully. I'll sit in the back and wow your progress.

No problem Ron, it’s never too late to join this build! 😀

That was my first thought and absolutely right (and easy) solution. I hope I sanded the fuselage well...

I'm thinking maybe 3 twists with a #80 drill bit for each fastener ( i don't think they were intended to be rivets.... except maybe on the wing skins).

Yes, looks like I’ll need to drill each sanded-out rivet... 😬

Very nice build nikolay

Thanks, Hewy! 😊

Anyway, it’s a small pause for this build and I think I’ll get my hands on this beast soon. Thanks for looking and your thoughts, guys! 🤝

I have just caught up with your build.

Hi Serkan, welcome aboard! 🙂

I will follow you with great interest as I have have this beautiful aircraft in 1:72 and 1:48 scales in my stash.

Thank you! These kits require a lot of the patience and your extraordinary engineering skills. Not a lot of the parts, but a lot of the fuss! 😐 I take the box from time to time and do some work when I feel the mojo. I hope it’ll looks good after all!

Hello, guys! 👋

I started to rescribe the fuselage panel lines and lost the mojo on it, then decided to attach the wings and intakes before riveting and application of putty, because it needs some time to cure the glue and get the mojo back:

I haven’t had any serious issues here, but the lower fuselage section intake area needs some attention:

Now the Vigilante looks bigger and closer (just closer) to completion:

That’s all for today, thanks for looking! 👍

Keep the mojo going Nikolay, getting there. I feel your pain with losing detail because of sanding.

I keep looking at mine in the stash with apprehension because of the pain others have felt due to the engineering and fit (or lack of fit) of parts.

You are an inspiration to all of us with one in the stash.

Great work.

Hi Nikolay,

Maybe you can give a try the Hasegawa fine saw blades to rescribe the straight panel lines. It is very useful tool and does the work perfect.

Thank you, @Red Dog🤝 The more I sand, the more detail needs some work...

Yes, this kit needs a lot of patience or just a wish for building it!

I hope your coffee doesn’t become cold due to irregular updates here! 😬

I to remember the old Airfix kit.

Ah, it was a great kit! I bought mine twenty years ago and was so happy to find this rare in our shops kit. Still saving it (builder and brush-painted) in my mother’s house! 😊

It’s a very interesting idea, Serkan! 🙂 I saw these in your thread and will get them one day.
