Zlin Z-126 OK-IFG (KP,1/72)

Recommended Posts

Another Zlin completed. This time, it's an early type of the whole line "x26". It was really relaxing and fast build without upgrading the model or correcting the kit. I made just a few small necessary upgrades. This Zlin flew at nearby airfield - Olomouc Neředín, that's why I chose it :)
I hope you'll like it, enjoy.

Cheers,

Andrew S

A sweet little model - beautifully finished. It is shame about the canopy which is crying out for a vac replacement but your build work is exceptional.

Cheers

Lovely build. OK-IFG is a bit special to me as I got a ride in it in 2014, about a year before it was removed from the civil register and retired to the air museum in Kunovice.

I know Pavla made a replacement canopy, it's number V72-114 in their catalog:

Thanks a lot!

I see the canopy is very obvious mistake I made. I tried to attach it into best possition where the frame will sting the least. Next time, I will probably use the vacu canopy... and the next time will be for sure!

As a point of comparison, here's a picture of OK-IFG not long after she went into the Kunovice Air Museum collection.

To put this picture into perspective with the model, OK-IFG was built in 1954 and went from the factory to the flying club at Olomouc (as depicted by the model). It spent most of the 1970s in storage before being restored to flying status and taken on by the flying club in Kunovice in the early 1980s. It was given a pseudo military paint scheme in the 1990s sometime and was struck from the Czech civil register in early 2015 and put in the collection of the Kunovice Air Museum collection.
