Onezonedrone
Hi I have a question not strictly modeling but I have been using Mr colour laquer paints for modeling. I was wondering if these paints are waterproof and weather proof if coated with Mr hobby gloss clear coat. Basically I've a couple of paint chips on my bike and would like to use my airbrush to touch them up with some gloss black and apply gloss clear to seal it in. Would this be weather proof? I'd use a rattle can of car paint but the spray pattern will be too big for the damage area. Interested to know if anyone has ever used model paints for this type of thing. colin
Yes, I have done the same for small scratches/marks on various items including vehicles
bmwh548
You can always get some 2K clear and overcoat with that. Just make sure you give the airbrush a really good clean immediately after use.
Onezonedrone
Ok thanks will probably do this then. I'm not too sure on spraying 2k indoors especially in a flat isn't it really toxic isocyanate? Would abek level 2 filters be enough to spray 2k? spitfire
I always use Humbrol enamels on my Motorbikes, and they are very weather resistant. Cheers Dennis
bmwh548
It is toxic, I just assumed you would be doing it outside. If it's a very small area you could probably get away with using it as long as you have a powerful extractor and the room is really well ventilated. Steve Noble
You don't need to seal them with any clear coat. If you're using gloss black Mr Color it is tough as old boots on it's own without clear..
