Mig88
Hello. Here is my Italeri 1:72 Junkers Ju 188A-2 U5+KH, of 1./KG2, Luftwaffe, based at Bron, Lyon, France, autumn 1944. I completed this kit in 2005. The cockpit was incorrect so I scratchbuilt a new one. The top turret interior was also modified as that of the kit was more correct for the Ju 188E/F variant. The exhaust flame dampeners came from a scrapped Dragon He 219, if I recall correctly. Several other details were added. The main scheme was painted with an airbrush. Decals came from a Begemot sheet. Thanks for looking and, as always, all comments are welcome Miguel

stevehnz
That looks rather nice. I've one to do myself one of these days & your tips about the interior are very welcome. Thanks. Steve.
Doc72
Looks cool, especially given the age of the kit! How did you make the squiggles on the rudder?
Hairtrigger
Splendid result... That canopy is well done... Did you use a mask set?

Steve, the AJ Press book on the type was invaluable help here. 2 hours ago, Doc72 said: Looks cool, especially given the age of the kit! How did you make the squiggles on the rudder? I first tried doing them with the airbrush but failed miserably so I resprayed the green and made them with brush, adding some dry-brushing to give a faded edge. 44 minutes ago, Hairtrigger said: Splendid result... dogsbody
Beauty! I built one of those over 40 years ago. It didn't looks as good as yours, though. Chris
Greg Law
Really nice Ju 188. I really like your paint scheme. I did one of these back in the eighties. It was one of my favourites. At the end of this month I will be going to house sit for a month like I did last year. That is when I did the Do 217's cockpit. So I will be doing the same thing for my Ju 188A 1/48 build, which will be a lot trickier because of all the photo etch I will put into it. 1
Learstang
Beautiful Ju-188! That's a great paint scheme. Regards, Jason
Richard502
Great job on that ancient kit! Scale is simply too small for my old eyes, so I wish s/o would produce an 1/48 kit. Regards, Richard

Mig88
Many thanks to everyone! I had previously built this kit back in the 1980s too so this was my second go at this kit! Miguel

I also failed so far to airbrush these squiggles/Wellenmuster/Mäandertarnung. Your technique seems to be good approximation. Probably decals would be the best solutions. Something like Mike Grant decals has done for the Italian "smole rings"-camouflage or Tamiyas decals for the new Ki-61.
IanC
Excellent. I love the paint scheme chosen. Good cockpit details too. Shame the canopy frames are a bit wide, but that's Italeri's fault, not yours!
glatisant
A magnificent looking aircraft. Super build in every respect.
iggy86
Great work, it must been a real struggle given it's age..... I think about the phrase... "It's not about the kit, it's all about the modeller".... Cheers Pd: love the camo and the cockpit.
