Been saving this for a “Special” Occasion, so Specialists fits the bill. 2 schemes to chose from and as yet undecided though both are same grey on blue colourway. Love a good 190 and a torpedo carrying one at that. It’s an Airfix new tool basic kit with bits for the torpedo and version from the original Revell kit.

Oh good point actually, i may need to revert to using the full Revell kit, I shall check that

welcome along with build #2 (or should I say #4), and this is a bit different!

This is not what you'd normally think of as a ship killer, so it's great to see the more unusual. It looks to be a nice straight forward build/conversion.

Again good luck with this build and look forward to see this one in the gallery as well.

I'll be tagging along for this one. I have the original kit in its various guises just not the torpedo bomber version. Will be interested how that builds up. Now that I think of it, I do have the nightfighter version... Hhmm...

Kind Regards,

Dazz

I'm interested in seeing how that torpedo turns out. If it's a good representation of LT-5f, or whatever torp Luftwaffe dropped from its He 111:s and Ju 88:s, it might be a reason to try and track exactly those boxings - and have the FW 190 kits as a bonus!

This is your chance to do a bit of stash dwindling if you have a few, Torpedo bomber ship killer, the night fighter Wild Sau with all the Radar bits (currently beyond my skill set or bravery to attempt) then the F-8 for tank killing in the Italy campaign...I have built 4 of the Revell ones in that guise and may look to enter another for the tank buster category as they are so enjoyable, plus that sand and spinach scheme looks great, il see if I have a photo

..the Revell kit does need just a tiny bit of care and effort but they do make a tremendous 190 when built, easy to build. If you want to pose canopy open though you need a bit of surgery, hence why I was going to swap airframes with a new tool Airfix F-8.

Build them all, as someone famously says 👍🏼

There was no instruction blurb part that details the aircraft or the torpedo, I will see if any of my refs detail it.

Hi Alistair, I’m glad you brought this up as yes it does have a longer tail wheel, looks like I will need to go with the original Revell airframe and closed canopy 😓

Here is the kit torpedo Vppelt68 if you are able to identify it from that?

Well here´s what the same company provides in their 1:32 He 111. Looks pretty identical to me! And yes, I know, models shouldn´t be used as a reference, but

LT-5f

Interesting subject. I'm thinking the 190 would have needed plenty runway to get that big long lump of death into the air!

Thanks Col, it’s going to take more than a big runway to get me started with this. Waiting on RLM 66 coming for my cockpit but can’t put my Skyhawk builds down. I shall try make a start ASAP. Maybe build up the star of the show, the torpedo...

I'd think building the torpedo will encourage you to build the aeroplane it hangs under ;)

Okay here we go. Desperate bid to relax after building 3 tail sitting A-4 Qs here is the Airfix base kit il be using for this one with a stolen torpedo and specialised rear tail elongated wheel from the Revell kit. The new tool Airfix kits are really detailed in 1/72 and compared to the Revell offering they go together very neat and issue free. The added bonus is Airfix has the canopy open potion which I wanted for this project.

Made some progress today. Cockpits on Maritime Luftwaffe Aircraft were RLM 66, but as mine hasn’t arrived I used lifecolor RLM 75. Think as it’s 1/72 the scale should account for it. Lifecolor RLM range is fab and brush paints really well. Wee bit of gunmetal dry brushing then I stuck the 2 decals on for the IP from the Airfix sheet. They were really good. I’m now out of decal fix and need to get to the shops...

I swapped the Revell kit for the new tool Airfix one as the former needs a bit of work and the Airfix usually just slides together, I must have got a super rare bad one, unlucky, but think I’ve rescued it..

Ok so mashing the Revell Torpedo to the Airfix kit is coming down to a millimetre. I can’t follow Revell instructions or the torpedo will be caught in the prop. Il have to see if I can pull the locator holes back a touch but then risk the tail of the torpedo touching the ground.

Thanks, nice idea but I don’t think I’m quite at that skill level yet, I don’t have anything above scissors, cheap scalpel and rubbish nippers for cutting though I am hoping to purchase my first micro saw at Scottish Nationals next weekend, even then I doubt I’d get the torpedo to seamlessly marry up without destroying it. But il keep that kind of idea in my mind für similar issues in the future so thanks!
