Hasegawa Geek
Hi, I haven't completed a model in 4 years. This one took a few days to assemble and finish and it was a fun way of getting back into building again. Kit is the 1999 Hasegawa ANA 747-SR kit with Flightpath, TwoSix, Liveries Unlimited and kit decals. Paints used are Model Master, Alclad and Tamiya. I sprayed a final coat of Future/Klear on a high PSI to give it a dull finish. This model has been sold and will be making its new home in Pakistan soon. F-ODJG was Air Gabon's solely owned 747-2Q2M, delivered new from Seattle in 1978. The plane carried the late Presidents name, Leon Mba, who died in 1967. Juliet Gulf served on the airlines prestige routes, including Paris and Gatwick. The aircraft was eventually scrapped in France in 2006 and Air Gabon ceased operations that same year. Their 747 was one of the dirtiest ones I have ever seen. Here with 1/200 Air Afrique A300B4 I built in 2014, classic 1980's airliners: Edited March 6, 2019 by Hasegawa Geek

Gimme Shelter
smashing 747 - nice and grubby for an old -200. Always good to see an old Love Liner200 on the forum. Having recently built a number of -400's in this scale, you build prompts me to dig out a 100 or 200 from my stash and build an older livery - I have the original SAA and Pan-Am decal sets for these kits. You have done a very convincing job of making this old lady look as tired and dirty as she looked in reality 10 out of 10 from me John

pinky coffeeboat
Love them!! I really like the weathering too. Thanks to a certain member on here (hint, he posted a few posts earlier ^) I've dug out my Hasegawa airliners again and have just this day received a package of 1/200 decals from Hannants, including Air Gabon 767 with more fom Classic-airlines.com to follow. Many thanks for sharing. Jeff
Turbofan
These are gorgeous! Outstanding weathering on the 747 too. Hasegawa certainly nailed all the shapes on their LoveLiners didn't they? Looking forward to seeing more of your models in the near future! Cheers, Ian
Skodadriver
Beautiful model(s) HG, thanks for sharing. I've always appreciated the accuracy of the Hasegawa airliners but I find 1/200 just too small, particularly for narrow bodies. Ian beat me to complimenting your weathering which really is excellent. Chanex
You’ve certainly done justice to those two, absolutely gorgeous! Got to love the old Loveliner series-the still look extremely accurate all these years later.

The Hasegawa 747 kits are my favorite kits of all time I've concluded. The fit, shape and finish is among the best of any airliner kit. I am trying to figure out a nice -400 to build, I am leaning on Cathay Pacific green livery using TwoSix silk screen sheet and the Hasegawa RR engines from Qantas kit. The older the better! 22 hours ago, Vince1159 said: Lovely looking 742 but the A300's gorgeous..... Cheers. I have used his JAL 747-100 sheet before and it was fantastic, would like to use his decals again in the future. Enjoy your builds! 18 hours ago, Turbofan said: These are gorgeous! The 747's are just the perfect size for the limited space I have available! 16 hours ago, Chanex said: You’ve certainly done justice to those two, absolutely gorgeous! That A300 has held the top shelf spot for the past 5 years Hi There - if you are considering a BA Landor 747, I have a huge A3 sheet of silk screened decals for the Landor fleet in 1/200. It has the red fuselage flash line and the tail fin "fly to Server" shield along with the carriers name in the correct colour and font - let me know if you want a set sending over. Contrails provide a good (well sort of good) set of RB211's in 1/200 but be carefull as the stock that comes from Hong Kong differs in quality from the US supplied stock -

Challenger350Pilot
These are GREAT builds! You’ve made 1/200 scale look just fantastic! Really like the different metals finishes on the engines, and the weathering is just perfect. Thanks for sharing.

There are not currently any 1/200 options for -200 Landor's. Will you ship to USA? Thanks for heads up on the Contrails engines. I recently bought a set (from a US vendor) and was disappointed with their quality and fit. I am now suspecting that vendor got their stock from the Hong Kong sellers. Are the HKG sellers just rip-off copies or does Contrails contract with them? 8 hours ago, stringbag said: It's taken me longer than that to decide which scheme to put on my 1/144 scale Airfix version. The Aviagraphics sheet was really easy to work with and responded well to Micro Sol on the compound curves. German is nice too 5 hours ago, Challenger350Pilot said: These are GREAT builds! PM me with you USA details and I will post over to you free of charge. I have a whole heap of these contrails sets in 1/200 (some of the original RB211's and some of the latter type) - some are poor quality and some are decent - the decent ones come from ordering from Contrails website directly. I am in the process of tidying up a set of these at present - filling in a few air holes and re-scribing was relatively easy but the rear hot ends need a lot of work as 1 in 4 seem to have suffered from either pouring or mould release process problems. BUT... that's the fun and what's modelling is all about isn't it, adapting and overcoming to make a better job than originally presented with! Ham Hands
Lovely build. I once lived under a flight path and was able to recognise individual aircraft from the weathering. No 2 were alike. 😊👍

The 747-4 appear now and then on ebay and there's a few RR powered I'd like to make, but don't want to buy engines sets that require too much reworking before use. Thanks, Jeff Hi Jeff Sorry Hasegawa Geek for hijacking your thread here but please look upon it for the betterment of all us 1/200 Love Liner lovers. 😍 ****************************** First 2 photos below are my long skirted 747-400 RB211's primed ONLY and partially tidied up - this set was one of the better from my stash and did not require too much extra work. You can see that the engraved lines supplied are wobbly which has left me thinking to fill them in and sand down smooth - also bear in mind that these are only 1 inch long and in 1/200, wont ever be crowd pleasers. This was one of the sets ordered from Contrails own US websites. Next are pictures of the short skirted 747-1,2,3 series RB211 classic bad boys. These came from the ting tong Hong Kong supplier - a mix of different colours and textured resins all in 1 pack! Quite literally, a bit of a mixed bag... *************************************** Moving on BELOW now to one of the Hong Kong supplied sets of the 747-400 RB211 long skirted sets, and this is a common problem. Not that it puts me off, I am happy to mine the excess resin out as it will be very difficult to see once built, however they are expensive and when compared to the quality and price of the 1/144 Braz alternative, these little 1/200 sets are NOT great value but more of a problem solver allowing you build the full spectrum of 747 airframes and liveries in 1/200. Sorry once again Mr Hasegawa Geek for intruding with Mr Pinky Coffeeboat, just view it like the 'Grand Tour - Conversation Street' chat, but instead as a 'Conversation Airspace' chatter. 1
