“It’s not red it’s Candy Apple red” 76 Ford Torino 1/25

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

Not posted on here for ages, but I have this in the stash (I was also a huge fan of the TV series) and so am watching with keen interest.

Great weathering on the chassis and interior; cannot wait until you paint the body (that is always my favourite bit when building but also the part which goes wrong often!).

I saw a replica of the real car in my local filling station a few years back; it looked fantastic.

Here it is, via photobucket:

Note the front grille and rims; looks more aluminium than chrome but of course the cars used in the show might have been different.

The seats are looking great, just a little more shiny..... and that exhaust system looks weird. I don't recall seeing one bent up and over the rear axle like that before.

Ian

Thanks Ian. Seats incoming, not a lot I can do about zen pipes however. 🙂

Lovely work Johnny. Weathering has brought out the detail and gives it depth. Ah yes those instructions thingys. They can be a little handy at times.

Thanks Tomorrow and yes I’m so used to going maverick on the flying things I just take it for granted these days. 😵

If someone can let me know how to post a pic of it into this thread I'll do it.

No pressure for the body work then.

glad you’re enjoying the build. As for the pic it would be great to see it. Either use a site like post image ? I think it’s called or Flickr. Then paste the link.

if not you could send me the pic in a message on this here site and I could post it for you.

Oh by the way I did a double bubble on the seats.

semi gloss but it was too much so I misted with Matt and got this.

'No pressure for the body work then.'

Don't worry; I meant it's the bit I often get wrong and end up stripping the whole body and redoing it. One of my recent builds: painted the body, stripped it, painted again, stripped it again and then painted it a third time before I was happy with the finish. Cost me a fortune in paint! 🤬

Seeing it parked next to a Focus somehow just doesn't look right....

Sorry Ian !!

It's right, and it's a mess when you have to fix it :rant::rant:

And guess how I learned it ??

Almost all the exhaust get up an over the rear axle... Alas !!

Sincerely.

Hey sorry yes all good. Work is hotting up as we’re getting near to out realease date.

I haven’t been in the cave for over a week / two weeks?  for any meaningful plastic time. 😓 weekends are rammed full too. I’m looking forward to some “me” time soon. Don’t worry I’ll catch up with all your builds to keep me going.  Thanks CC for the concern.

Hope you’re all dandy.

Hyella guys n gals. It has been a while.

I sprayed some paint tonight and found a few pics of spots I’ve done in between work and life.

This was the painted (just black for now)

radio, not happy with the wire I made a new one from lead wire.

40565546193_f86bf7c92a_b.jpg

thats better. 😎

There are some nasty pin marks in places you’d rather not have them.

These got sanded and filled and I managed to prime the main body.

ooh less toy like now the plastic is covered. I also glued on some of the dash bits.

now where did I put that steering wheel?

Kids are in bed and the wife is having a nap.  Hmmmmm ..... to the bat cave. 🦇

happy camping guys.

wish me luck.

Johnny.

Back on the case, and it's looking good.

It's always a bit of a relief to get some paint over red plastic!

What Ben just said has reminded me of a kit I got and built long ago, while I was in US.

It was a Triumph Tiger motorbike complete with the Fonz from the show Happy Days.

Good fun doing the build as I had my T100 waiting for me back home, and I was pining a bit.

I can't even find the kit on Scalemates listing, but if any of you should ever come across such a thing....... 😍

That's a CB radio on the dash ain't it!??

"... This here's Rubber Duck an we're gonna put the Hammer down...."

Ah... Reminiscences...
