basaez.bruno
Hello everyone!! this is my first build of the year. As the title says, im going to recreate a cf-18 duringthe tigermeet from 1991: This is the kit: IMG_6283 by basco.br1, en Flickr it is the old italeri mould, so i dont think it needs a review of the sprues. As you may know, this kit has raised panel lines, it lacks the gun cannon, and it will need a lot of filler. Anyways i will try my best to make it look decent. here is the decal sheet: IMG_6284 by basco.br1, en Flickr I wont use the tiger stripes decals, i'll paint them. IMG_6286 by basco.br1, en Flickr As you can see, revell try to erase the italeri trademark from this part Now getting in the building process, I have already assembled the cockpit IMG_6288 by basco.br1, en Flickr not sure if that two boxes in the top are gray or black if someone have a reference. The instrument panel got sanded to remove the injection excess IMG_6290 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_6292 by basco.br1, en Flickr Since the canopy will be closed, i wont put to much effort on the instruments, so i will only put the decals IMG_6289 by basco.br1, en Flickr Cockpit painted with humbrol 64 IMG_6294 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_6299 by basco.br1, en Flickr And landing gears and bays painted with humbrol 130 IMG_6301 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_6303 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_6298 by basco.br1, en Flickr Im hoping to finish this plane before the 15th of march, since that day i return to nursing school. That's all by now, tomorrow ill buy some new paints and some filler for the plane. Hope you like it and feel free to comment! More soon! basaez.bruno
The next thing I finished was the ejection seat: IMG_20190309_115552 by basco.br1, en Flickr The cockpit with the decals IMG_20190309_130145 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190309_130155 by basco.br1, en Flickr The instrument panel: IMG_20190309_141016 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190309_141031 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190309_141043 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190309_141100 by basco.br1, en Flickr This is what I have so far, hope you like it! basaez.bruno
Continuing with the hornet, some pics of the painting process: First a light ghost gray coat IMG_20190310_160427 by basco.br1, en Flickr Then i painted the upper surface with dark ghost gray: IMG_20190311_140107 by basco.br1, en Flickr the nose with some sand paint IMG_20190311_141620 by basco.br1, en Flickr Then it was time for the stripes: first I masked the place where the roundels go, the "CANADA" decals and the flags IMG-20190312-WA0028 by basco.br1, en Flickr After that I draw the stripes IMG_20190313_000327 by basco.br1, en Flickr Here is the painting process (ignore my slippers lol) IMG-20190313-WA0009 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190313_172903 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190313_173057 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190313_173108 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190313_213015 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190313_213026 by basco.br1, en Flickr I already started with the decals, soon i'll upload those photos. Personally I'm not a great fan of these tiger striped machines, although I do acknowledge many find them popular, but I must hold my hand up and say that the way you are applying these is extremely skillful and convincing. Great job there and I look forward to seeing the finished hornet! Terry 1
basaez.bruno
Thank you all for your kind comments! yes, the whole plane is painted by hand, i don't have an airbrush, but i find relaxing painting with a handbrush. It's been a quick building, i think i'm finishing it by saturday night - sunday. I need it by that time cause im starting my shifts at the hospital. Here are some pics of the decals: IMG_20190314_210436 by basco.br1, en Flickr I'm proud that i match the tiger stripe's gray with the decals one: IMG_20190314_210500 by basco.br1, en Flickr sadly some of the paint got damaged with thiner as you can see in the nose IMG_20190314_210513 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190314_210524 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190314_210534 by basco.br1, en Flickr Today I added the landing gear, as you can notice the plane has it's matt coat IMG_20190316_161856 by basco.br1, en Flickr IMG_20190316_161902 by basco.br1, en Flickr I think that the next set of photos will be the RFI thread, i'm glad you liked my plane, thanks for the support!! see you soon Bruno.-
