Yugoslav Air Force

Batajnica Airbase 1954

"Titova Stafeta"

kit: Monogram 1/48

decals: Wolf Heritage Decals - thanks Murmillo!

was a great build wihtin the even better and ongoing  50s NATO vs Warsaw Pact and affected countries  GB!

WIP: 50s NATO v Warsaw Pact GB

after WWII, Yugoslavia started of with quite interesting assortment of armament, although a Socialist country, it was throughout its existence more or less independent and sourced arms or licences for them all over the world..... a lot of effort was also put into their own industry and quite some respectable planes and capability came from that!

for those interested, here some links:

Yugoslavian Air Force operated 231 Republic (R)F-84G from June 1953 until July 1974, first as fighters in aluminium/ natural metal, sometimes still with the US insignia, sometimes in Arctic high viz colors! in the late 50ies already they were seconded to fighter bomber duties because newer F-86E arrived from England

One of them even crashed into an Austrian mountain because the pilot passed out due to oxygen problems during a training flight......

so here she is!

Its always nice to see the F-84 in JRV markings. Its my favourite aircraft  from that period. The original aircraft was later converted to photo reconnaissance configuration and is preserved in Beograd museum.

If JRV Thunderjets still interest you please check mine to see how they looked in cammo.

Hard for me not to be subjective , but if i put aside that i was born in country related to decals you used,  your model looks fantastic.

NMF looks very convincing and weathering is.....just right

Great subject and beautiful execution.

Best regards Djordje
