fjaweijfopi4j48
By the way, the kit's original "shells" have the wrong window curtains. No photo of the several dozen I have shows that kind of curtain (as molded in the parts), but a parallel two-rail (above/below) endeavor:

Chris This one is an interesting proposition for many reasons: 1) Relatively good documentation exists, plus a not small number of photos. 2) It is volumetrically simple (a box fuselage, constant chord wings and stabs). 3) It has a couple of attractive decoration schemes that do not require too complex decaling or painting. The other side of the coin is the sheer size, the large number of details inside and out, and of course all those struts and rigging, not to mention alignment issues and the handling and storage difficulties. But what is modeling for if not to challenge us?

fjaweijfopi4j48
The tedious and insipid work of tidying the seams begins: The kit was not particularly precise on this regard, and the edges were somewhat wobbly and of course did not coincide in a natural fashion, hence the need of those tabs. A lot to do here.
Stromness
A man‘s gotta do what a man‘s gotta..... oh well. Per aspera ad asphyxia. I now tend to go about these chores in a way like „Just do it without thinking if you like it, then do something you REALLY like“ . Sort of extinguishing the tedium with something much more appealing - your choice of course 😉 Skål!

fjaweijfopi4j48
I reiterate here the comment added to the Junkers, Aero Commander, Percival and Anson builds, in regards of duty calling and having to take a break from the building board for a while. But hopefully will come back with renewed impetus for all the current builds. Cheers!
fjaweijfopi4j48
I managed to accomplish a bit more before the hiatus. Primer is applied to the fuselage. Now all major structures have been primed:

Putty Animal
Looking wonderful! I wish I could find one of the old Airfix ones in my scale that doesn't cost an arm or a leg. Actually, I wish Airfix would do a new one. And an Empire Class flying boat too. 1

Nikolay Polyakov
I running out of likes with this thread, @Moa! Such an interesting progress on this beast. When I look at your builds I want to start a new model again and do something close to your skilled work... But I need to finish some other works before. Excellent job with an interior, the glazing is also noticeable. Keep up the good work!
StephenCJ
I just sent this to Airfix: Could you please find it in your hearts to do a 1/72 scale Empire Flying Boat and a 1/72 Handley Page HP42/45. This would make a Yank and an Aussie very happy, and our wives probably not so happy. More money going on wonderful Airfix Kits. Thank you Stephen. I wonder if we will get anywhere?
