leyreynolds
I'm currently building the Easter Express (ne Frog) kit and have a vague recollection of an all yellow colour scheme for a late war aircraft. Any further info' please?
rossm
The only place I could think of to look in, apart from the web, was Michael Bowyers Army Air Colours series in Airfix magazine. The Hotspur is covered in June and July 1976 issues but no mention of all yellow.
Work In Progress
I've never seen an all-yellow one either. Of course, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. While I've never had an original Frog release it looks from this -- https://nofineline.com/hotspur-ii-glider-frog-172/ -- to have been moulded in yellow plastic, so maybe what you;re remembering is a model made from the unpainted or minimally-painted kit, in the fashion of Matchbox in the old days? Junchan
This guy built an all yellow Hotspur based on the article in Airfix Magazine August 1976 issue. https://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=379&start=540 Scroll down to almost the bottom. The magazine said, "A handful of Hotspurs survived long enough to acquire an overall yellow finish with black under surface stripes like HH130 which carried A in black on its nose and FCVP aft of the roundels during 1946-47". rossm
I thought the coverage ended in the July issue but should have looked further just to be sure. If you want scans of all 3 instalments PM me an email address
