This was not necessary. Because all parts have been taken from graveyard 😁 The real butchery happened in my other mad projects such as T-10M series and Su-27IB conversions. Thanks 😁 Yesterday I have applied several coats of Future/Pledge with very light passes. I have not used Future/Pledge before as a gloss coat. Due to surface tension it was not so easy to have uniform coat. I have read that few drops of dishwashing liquid soap helps to break surface tension. Has anyone experienced this? Anyway here are some pictures with gloss coat: Also I have prepared the artwork for decals to be printed with Alps MD5500: I have some doubts about the visibility of dark blue markins and labels on aircraft. Therefore I have created in two sets, dark blue and black. I will use the one which is more visible on the model. Stuart Thanks Stuart, The main problem with Alps is the very limited colour gamut (besides the unavailability of repair support in Europe). As alternative I have bought an HP printer with Ghost white toner cartridge (costed same price as the printer!..) and the opacity is not acceptable for decal printing. Besides white underlay is not possible due to RGB Raster Image Processor (RIP) of HP printer. The white background has to be printed separately (like two bobs decals) and this leads the markings twice thicker than the normal one. Another try was to have high quality inkjet printer to improve color gamut especially for gray tones. Therefore last year I bought an Canon Pixma Pro 1 (costed around 700€) but till now no time even to unpack this beast (A3 sized and weighted around 28kg!..) . My hope is thanks to pigment based inks the prints will have better opacity than the standard ink based inkjet printouts. Some close views of markings... The next step is to apply decals on model... I will also partially use Revell's high quality decals provided with Su-27SM and Su-33 kits. I am assuming that you refer X-20A which is acrylic thinner based alcohol, but not the X-20 which is for enamel paints based mineral spirits. Serkan Sen Posted June 19, 2019 Author Share Posted June 19, 2019 My wife was also very impressed with my self decal printing results and assigned me a task to prepare gifts for grandparents, uncles and aunts... I had to first finish this task to be able to continue my progress (peacefully 😇)... The task is not so different than model plane decal work: print, cut, place... Job completed...
