Caudron C712 1/48....

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I hesitated:

finally, not wishing to make Cr-714 .... I will turn it into C712.

The Caudon C-712 is made of a C710 fuselage, a C560 wing and a C461 empennage.
After some modifications, the fuselage of the C714 will make a good base, for the wings, it's another story ...

The fuselage first:
- modifying the rudder
- removal of karmans
- clogging of various vents
- integration (gluing, sanding) of the side windows.

The wings are cut in those of the box RS for the extrados, in a remind of TA-152H Dragon for the intrados.
They go up to the axis of the fuselage, I'll see later how to make a clean assembly.
Do not worry, the TA-152 won a Fusion Models conversion kit to finish in TA - 152C

Modify the shape of the air intake, larger and more square.

Shape of the canopy, then train in progress ....

This will be an interesting project.

Was the C712 and its amalgam of parts from different aircraft something routinely done by Caudron or was this done one-off to achieve some specific characteristics? An example of the latter is the Gulfhawk II, which Grumman made for Al Williams by mating the smaller Grumman F2F wings to an F3F fuselage and empennage to produce a more powerful and agile aircraft than either of its parents.

I don't think. It's particular to the C712. the other racer are similar, but purpose build.

I love the sleek lines of the Caudron 712, you  do it justice sir!

Just a question about the decals, home printed?
