k5054nz
Bravo Konrad, it looks great! Maybe you'll need to ask your Dad, maybe you know already, but I have a question: What did the East German forces call the aircraft? In the West it was Hind, I understand in Russia it was Crocodile.

I believe it was called Hornet inofficially because it really looks like one when you stand in front of it. But I will ask again to be sure not to tell you BS.
USS_ESSESS
Well I did finish it late yesterday evening but it involved a lot of swearing and many mistakes... I had to redo one decal that I ripped while masking for the heat shielding. I accidentally glued the landing gear on backwards... but in the end it’s finished and looks ok! the small plate has to be glued to the recess of the base yet. more pictures in the RFI as soon as it survived the journey to my dad. thank you all for watching and the support you gave me! Cheers Konrad
heloman1
Loved your build and the way you painted/deatiled the model. However with the base, I think you may have sold yourself short. You could have trimmed off the edges to make it look like a base instead of a cutting board. You could have also saved yourself some ash and instead of using plasticard for the base, used sugar paper. Obtainable for art shops, it comes in various shade of gray with concrete looking speckles . Just MTPW Colin

Well, as I promised I asked him and he gave me some that I can post here. This is him in the early 80's when he was a lieutenant and as a captain on his last day in 1990 wearing full parade uniform Here are some pictures taken at the home base (Cottbus) And those pictures are from the boarder patrol base near the "Fulda-Gap" Boarder patrol was flown with no rockets but the MG fully loaded (the tilted fully up position indicated that it was loaded) and the last one is from an backup airfield in the middle of an forrest where they were supposed to land and operate from in case the home base was under attack... I really hope you enjoy these pictures. Cheers Konrad Edited February 22, 2019 by USS_ESSESS spell check
USS_ESSESS
Also the model arrived safe and sound at my parents house and I took some good pictures for the RFI My Dad loves it and was really surprised and happy with this gift. That brings me to the very end of this build. I hope y'all enjoyed this little excurse I took from floaty things, might not have been my last one😉 Now it's time to go back to my 1:350 Tirpitz... Cheers Konrad
