Wee Beastie
This will be next build. It will be built as an Indonesian AF Su-30. With the Eduard Su-27UB cockpit set, I will only be using the un-painted PE parts.Untitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on Flickr

Wee Beastie
Seats, missiles, undercarriage, exhausts, and pylons done. Plastic canon barrel replaced with some metal tube. Seat belts are Fine Molds plastic. Exceptional detail on them. The added detail in the Kh-29 head, is the rear end of a 1/35 tank shell, painted gold.fullsizeoutput_cb7 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cba by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cbf by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cbc by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cc5 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cac by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cc6 by ian gaskell, on Flickr

Wee Beastie
Some pre-shading done, and the metal colours on the engine covers done. Then the first camp colour applied, Hataka Orange Line Light Ghost Grey.fullsizeoutput_ce6 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_ce7 by ian gaskell, on FlickrIMG_7157 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_ce8 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_ce5 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_ced by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cec by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cec by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_ce9 by ian gaskell, on Flickr
Wee Beastie
Blu-tac sausages used for masking the camouflage lines, ready for the darker grey. I use randomly shaped card, as opposed to spending ages with Tamiya tape. With care, it works well. The masking tape was removed from the engine covers. Everything is then given a gloss coat, ready for the decals. Speedbrake, and exhaust can are dry fitted for the photos.fullsizeoutput_cfc by ian gaskell, on FlickrIMG_7177 by ian gaskell, on FlickrIMG_7178 by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cfa by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cfb by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cfd by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cfe by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_cff by ian gaskell, on Flickrfullsizeoutput_d00 by ian gaskell, on Flickr

Hi Alex My decals look ok. They are a bit on the thick side, though, so I used plenty of Micro Sol.
MR2Don
Looking at your camo masking, there's a video on Youtube of an SU-27 build where he uses an intriguing method. He prints the paint page from the manual, measures a known length, measures that on the model, scales up and reprints the page, then cuts out the various camo sections and tapes them down to mask the areas. He says the paper being slightly off surface at the edges gives a nice feathered edge. Good video overall, I think his Youtube ID is max-afterburner.

I’m tempted to give it a try sometime.
