Reini78
This is gonna be my dad´s first 1/35 build since over 20 years. He will try to recreate one of the GMC trucks he drove during his conscript time in the Austrian Army in 1966. Our Jimmys had steel beds, so the Tamiya kit wasn´t an option. Between the Italeri and the Heller kit, my dad chose the latter one because it includes a canvas for the rear. Reini78
My dad redecided and will use the Italeri kit with a canvas cover from Royal Model DSC_0001 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0002 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr
Reini78
The original molds are from the 70ies, this Italeri boxing is from the 80ies and it is still a nice kit. Fit is very good, molding quality is ok. Reini78
Fun with wheels, started to paint them. Gonna apply some grey paint as primer and to have a better contrast for the eye. DSC_0001 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr

Reini78
After some pause due to other priority projects, my dad finally continues with this. Some scratchbuilding for the Austrian additional number plate and rear lights arrangements, using plastic sheet and spare parts. Reini78
Some longer pause, because my dad doesn´t really like to scratchbuild but he had to find a way to do the additional turnsignals on the front fenders. In the end he used some plastic sheet, clear parts, wire and elastic thread DSC_0006 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr DSC_0007 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr
Reini78
Started with the decals (Schefczik company, which sadly doesn´t produce them anymore due to health reasons of the owner) DSC_0008 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr scratchbuilding on the rear almost done, used paper copies of the numberplate decals to spare them for other models DSC_0007 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr DSC_0006 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr The old Austrian army trucks carried the wheel chocks on the front fenders, sadly the Italeri kit ones are too small. Had a chock set from Black Dog, but there are no fitting ones and the resin is of poorer quality...tends to break when sanding it. So my dad keeps the chocks away and has only added the mounts. MickE
Looking good so far. It's good to see a different scheme from the more usual US Army versions.
